| Heard from a reliable source, Rob Burrow is going to Cas with Rangi Chase in exchange to Leeds. Has anyone else heard anything?
Apparently Rangi Chase has been seen drinking in Leeds with the Rhinos team ! with whom he seems close.

| I've read the same rumour on a couple of other forums.
I would imagine there will be all sorts of rumours flying around now with the departing players and coaches.
Others i've read include Bailey & Cash to Hull for Tom briscoe and Andy Lynch from Bulls.
Before this last couple of weeks I'd have said its all rubbish but everything seems crazy at the moment so who knows

Doubt it (but who knows at the moment)....and do like Burrow's courage, speed and defence.....but this would be a bluddy good deal.

| Hold on... Rangi Chase is in NZ isn't he at the mo? Also, what's the odds He lives in Leeds seeing as though Cas is basically a subberb on the outskirts of the city believe it or not players from different clubs do socialise with each other... Especially the Kiwi's
That being said it would be a great deal for Leeds but I'd assume we'd be giving them money if by any stretch of the imagination it did happen, because a straight swap isn't exactly a good deal for them.
Chase is, IMO, one of the better young half backs in the world and behind a decent pack he's near unstoppable. Him at 6 and McGuire at 7 would be an awesome pairing TBF.

The Kiwis always have nights out together. I was at virgin active once and on my way out saw Webby, Ali, Solomona, Toopi....just about every Kiwi in SL we're on the lash.
Chase needs to be at a bigger club. He would be awesome at Leeds. I would straight do a swap deal with Cas.

| It makes me laugh how so many people on here are so fickle about Rob. He was IIRC, one of our best players in the playoff match against Wigan, yet some 'supporters' feel the need to have a player that they have to slag off at any given opportunity.

I feel I have been pretty consistant about my opinions on Rob for the last 2 years or so. He does not have the game to be a top SH. He is a poor decision maker and kills overlaps for fun. The majority of the time he holds the ball too long and has no idea how to break down a set defensive line. Burrow is a good broken field runner but doesn't really offer much else anymore and as the set defensive lines have become much better over the last few years we have seen a gradual decline in his game.
In this time we have seen McGuire evolve and become a more complete player where as Burrow has stagnated.
There's no room for sentiment if you want a successful team and I do believe he has already had a season too long at Leeds.

I guess your talking about the one at the DW?
He was one of our best players due to the space Wigan gave him.I've been saying all year that we have an awesome back line but the forwards are not giving them any space to work with. We still need one more brute forward imo. But with the addition of cross and hopefully more luck with injuries the pack will be on top more this year, then we can see what Rob has still got to offer.

| This deal wouldn't happen anyway.
Whilst I think they are talking our of their arrisis a lot of Cas fans seem to think Chase is their best overseas player in the last 20 years. Ridiculous I know, but can you honestly see the Cas board putting themselves in the position of alienating themselves against the fans like that. It's not as if Burrow would be a cheaper option for them to give some excuse.

TBF I'm with them on this. It's a shame the lads not in the NRL because as good as he is now he would be a much better organising player had he had the oportunity to make it over there. Add this to his current play making skills and the Kiwis would have had a brilliant half back pairing of him and Benji.

| The thing about Rob is he used to be unpredictable. His speed and size, coupled with the fact you didn't have a clue what he was going to do every time he got the ball made him what he is today.
The reason for his gradual decline, isn't that he's lost his pace, or forgotten how to break defences down, it's that now he's not the only one doing it and most teams have their own version of Rob (see messrs Robinson, Leuluai, Myler, Tomkins, Eastmond for more details) teams have spent more time researching and practising how to deal with it, and thus it becomes much more predictable. If you can predict what Rob is going to do, he becomes much easier to contain.
This is why every now and then he has a cracking match, it's the match where McGuire, or Sinfield, or Peacock is massively in form and expected to play well, and everybody concentrates on him and forgets to watch Rob, giving him back his edge.
The matches where Rob is expected to play well, and the press are talking about his form in the build up to the match, he nearly always is shut out of the game. The point I'm making is, as good as Rob is, with research and good tactics he is stoppable. There is an answer to it. It's not like Hayne, or Inglis, where no matter how much research you do, or who you put to mark them, if they're on form it's irrelevant.
