Well it was a reasonably good event.

Uncle Gary confirmed that it would be an all standing stand of a capacity of around 8,000 and bring the overall all capacity back to 22k.

The good news is, is that they are looking to start the works to the Western Terrace ASAP and hoping to have the new screen/scoreboard in before Christmas, never mind the start of next season!

The South Stand will hopefully come down at the end of the 2011 season and will be open in March of 2012 and Gary as already informed the RFL that he may need to play the first 3 to 4 four games away from home to have everything ready! It is a very, very tight programme but he and the team think that it is possible to get it demolished and up in this 5 month time frame and as such we will not have to play at another venue in Leeds.

Now the pitch is to be replaced in August 2011 in the window between the CC Semi Final and Final with the RFL sending Leeds away during the gap between the two and either before or after the CC final. Giving a four/five week window to do the pitch works in full. It will be one of these modern synthetic mix type pitches and as such we will not need under soil heating as the freeze point will be around -6 deg. He said that the improved drainage and the synthetic mix would prevent the same problem as happened this years if we did get such extreme weather in the future.

So that is it folks, I am very surprised that they can get it done in five months flat but if they are well planned it should be possible... just! I suspect Gary will have a back-up plan just in case the weather is bad during the 2011/2012 winter but he hoping we will just be playing all home fixtures at Headingley.

What sort of work is being done to the Western Terrace? Is it simply the new screen/scoreboard?

Either way it's good news and earlier than I expected!

Yeah I assumed there wouldn't be anything major but even just a refurb is better than nothing and the new screen should be good.

Cheers for the info icon_thumb.gif

Cool.

Wouldn't be wanting any disruption to the Carnegie/Tykes season now would they?

To be fair Shag, grass only grows when it's warm enough and it doesn't grow in winter...

I enjoyed it , it was a very informative evening and it was good to have the opportunity to get some of our ideas across about what we want in the new southstand.

They were sending the invites out a couple of weeks ago mate and you had to confirm attendence by replying to the txt or by ringing the club.

The second one is tonight so if you ring up they will put you down. Gary said that anyone who wanted to come to the second session and had not already booked would be welcome.
