| Posted this elsewhere on bottom of another post....
For 2011 ...I did think the priority should be a half-back. McGuire is our most potent attacking threat but arguably now our ONLY weapon in the armoury. Burrow was brilliant on defence yesterday (scrambling particularly so) and nobody can doubt his 'heart'.....BUT on attack he offers nothing apart from running sideways and/or trying his duck-under move.
However, I have to agree now we more than ever need somebody to replace Peacock and his go-forward ability. We were so badly exposed at Wembley without him. Completely dominated in the forwards. Bailey is good from the bench to mix things up, but he aint a first choice prop. Maybe Ambler or Burgess can step up longer term, but can we afford to wait and see ??
2011 has got to be a period of re-building (with maybe another concerted effort for the CC) with the likes of BJB at FB, Watkins at centre, Hall at centre, Smith at stand off, McGuire at scrum half, Ambler at prop, McShane at hooker, Delaney ? and Clarkson in the second row/LF all being the first names on the team sheet. Conversely in 2011 some of the older more 'established' career twilight team members can act as the 'reserves'.
Some of my suggestions in the backs might raise an eyebrow or two......but we should look to experiment next season to kick on for 2012 with a team for the future.
I do think Hall would make a good centre to complement Watkins in the other centre berth (better than Delaney who is too ponderous and Smith who is too small)...and Smith might instead make a good stand off (at least he is willing to try something a little different and unpredictable like a kick over the top sometimes) with some good coaching. McGuire is our best scrum half by far.
Maybe look to giving Chisholm a run on the wing....but not Bush. Maybe try Bush at FB with BJB on the wing ?

| Personally i dont think we need to rebuild. We have many players in the wings waiting to come through. Maybe more squad players would be ideal, those that will bolster the squad.

| There's "re-building" and then there's just pointless exercises in playing players out of position.
Now don't get me wromg we need "freshening up" imo and i'm hoping some of the "experienced players" don't play too many games next year but come on mate Hall at Centre and Smithy at 6????
They are the 2 best wingers at the club at this moment in time so why move them?
I expect more game-time from Watkins,Ambler,Bjb and Clarkson next year and hopefully they'll kick on and i also think/hope Brian Mcdermott will "freshen us up".
I think we need another Prop and maybe a Centre to help ease Watkins back.

| I don't think we need to be that drastic, but theres a few big decisions to come in the next few years. I think we need a player in the mould of Dobson, Briers, Brough who can put the team around the park and someone who can help Peacock out with the workload. We will need a centre as Senior and Delaney leave in year or so. This is unless players come through like Clarkson has.
In years to come i feel the team should look something like:
BJB
Smith, Watkins, ..., Hall
McGuire, ...
Bailey, Diskin/McShane, Ambler
Ablett, Clarkson
Sinfield
With the likes of Pitts, JJB, Burgess and Amor available.

| Maybe it's not so much what's wrong with Delaney, he does his job very well. But maybe we could do with more of a strike centre out there?

| 9 tries is pretty good. Better strike rate than Keith. He's defensively sound too. Done nothing wrong and doesn't deserve criticism.

I agree, but I think people want to see some more strike power than that in the centres. I personally would not make Delaney the scapegoat, i've enjoyed watching him play this year. Senior's impact is diminishing naturally year on year, and I only hope Watkins steps up to be Senior mark 2 in the next year or two.

| I would like to see the centres be more effective attackingly, Delaney came over here as a defensive centre and was never going to set the world on fire. It just annoys me that people are saying get rid of him.

| Delaney, for me, was one of our better players yesterday. He is consistent and makes few mistakes. I don't think he'd look out of place in the 2nd row and would arguably be more effective there than keith who has been championed by some to play there. In a funny way his strengths and weaknesses remind me of Chris McKenna, who ended up moving to 2nd row permanently

| There won't be much/any rebuilding next season as the entire squad except Donald and Eastwood are still under contract, leaving very little cap space. The real rebuilding will be in 12 months time when we have Webb, Senior, Leuluai, Buderus, Peacock, Lauitiiti, Sinfield, Diskin, Bailey, Kirke and Burgess out of contract. I expect Webb, Leuluai, Buderus, and Lauitiiti will finish, possibly Senior and Peacock too and there are rumours that Burgess wants to join Sam in Australia. Managing the departure of that many first team players will be a tricky and important job. In the short term, I think we need players to get back to playing how they used to as some often look shadows of the players they once were.

| Delaney runs great lines as was shown yesterday and a move to the 2nd row as cover would be perfectly fine, defensively good enough to fit in there. The only problem with him at centre is that he doesn't feed his winger enough, but that can be worked on. Everyone has off days, let's not think about getting rid of players because of one bad performance.

| I wasn't scape goating Delaney as I thought he played very well. It was more that I felt he probably wouldn't stick at Rhinos for the rest of his career. Although that said I would prefer centres to be attackers over defenders but each to their own!

| Delaney will be at Leeds to see out his contract. He's well and truly settled in the Burgess household and seems very happy to be here.
