Anyone noticed how Sinny (and I think a couple of other players) wear a neoprene 'bicep pad' on their upper arms.

It is not part of any padded undersuit or the thing that Schoey used to wear to protect his biscuit -shoulders after the dislocation injuries.

Can someone shed some light on it for me exactly what they're for or what protection they offer ?

At the risk of sounding serious and therefore boring, allow me.

Quite alot of players wear them these days perhaps not in SL but across the amateur game. You don't tend to think you need them until you catch a shoulder or knee on the bicep. A dead bicep feels like a dead leag but about twice as bad IMO, and can probably keep you out for a couple of weeks if you catch one badly enough. I'm guessing Sinny (and Sean Long) have caught one before, and decided that padding would be a good idea.

I caught an innocuous shoulder to my bicep towards the end of our uni season, which required constant ice etc just to give me a chance to play the next week. I couldn't straighten my arm for two days, very strange but painful injury.
