Looked an excellent prospect. Big lad for his age. Thought it was an excellent outing. Ankle injury I believe but nothing serious

He looked very good, its very very hard in the modern game to step into super league at 18, even those once a generation player like Morley and Burgess would find it harder to step straight in now.
hope he does not get a ban or myler or even mcshane from lasts nights game mcshane penalty is enough we want some rough n tumble in the game.

For me in the context of the game none of the incidents warrant further action.
Another one was Hurrell getting his hand stood on at the ruck, which is usually intentional.

Holroyd is going to be a beast when he grows up. 2 years younger than Oledski, who himself is very physical for his age.

What I like most about Holroyd is his aggression and mobility, he isn’t just a big thing. There’s plenty to his game.

Not sure about that one, Burgess was smashing an international kiwi pack around at 17.

Holroyd has potential though for sure.

Only been training properly with first team this year but his body shape is starting to change. He is a real talent but I'll be glad if Crosby, cuthbo get back so we can give him some time off and then just bring him in and out.
Nobody else is playing 18 year olds at prop in SL for good reason.

Great prospect and looking a real talent. Isn’t it funny, we seem to accept Oledski in our pack but is still growing and has so much potential. These 2 could be our 1st choice FR in 4 or 5 years......the new breed? All I would advise is for them to take a great opportunity to learn from Trent

Well he was 19 when he made his international debut, and that was 12 years ago, and like i said he may not gave come through quite so quickly nowadays, young players do tend to come through a bit later nowadays but players tend to have longer careers aswell, maybe thats goid thing as Burgess is 30 and been pretty busted for a few years maybe he should have been held back a bit longer.

In Holroyd and Oledski we have a decent 8 and 10 for the 2020’s. Both could become England Internationals.

Yes you are correct not sure why i thought 17 but still, 19 and doing what he did and standing out shows it was right to bring him through. I don't think he is a crock either even now, the way he plays suggests he should have a worse injury record than he has to be fair. And lets not suggest its any tougher today than when he came through over a decade ago and Moz did over two because if anything its got softer. Holroyd is a unit already and playing him for a dozen games or so this season from the bench will so him no harm whatsoever and is what we should be doing with him and others imo.

Yeah he's not crock but think it has taken its toll on him playing at a high level when still physically maturing.

It's tougher in a different way now, players are physically bigger and better developed, and the impacts are faster and harder, the game was more brutal 20-30 years ago, older players stepping back down into A team rugby would think nothing of giving a young upstart a whack to put them in their place.
Yes I agree Holroyd will go well playing a dozen or so games, but it is important to just hold him back a bit and phase his development just like we have done will Oledski, who is probably benefits from controlled exposure.

Oledski has obviously put a shift in this pre-season, he looks fitter this year.

Holroyd might be in a similar position for 2020, hopefully. I really like both players.

We could do with climbing away from the bottom spot so we can better afford to manage Tom and others. It’s nice to see Furner have confidence in the young lads and give them the opportunity. Most of that U19s side will be ambitious to break into the first team this year, which is how you want it.

Yes and they will see a set of old guys and players on their way out (pack especially) and a real opportunity to stake a claim. Something that wasn't really there unless you were special 6-8 years ago.

I hope that if we can get in a better league position by July, we can give some of these prospects like Johnson a little game time in the 6/8 home games we end the season with. Ideally , play them one at a time surrounded by experienced pro's.

Worth bearing in mind that even though Sam Burgess is the exception of his generation and a great player, he had undergone shoulder surgery before he was 21.

Dependent on who we draw in the cup we may see a few of them named in that game.
