| Kevin Sinfield
Could he be classed as the best player ever to put on a Leeds shirt?
Yes, he's not the best player in the world nor is he the the most gifted technically we have ever had at Leeds but as an all round individual who can just about play anywhere on the pitch, someone who is the engine room of the team, someone who gives 110% every game, someone who can kick goals for fun, someone who is a dedicated one club man, someone who wears the Leeds shirt with pride and passion, someone who is a fine ambassador for the club and someone who is a role model to young players and to cap it off someone who has captained our great club to 5 Grand Finals.
Your thoughts?

| having supported the Loiners/Rhinos since my late teens in the early sixties I have seen better individual players in their own positions but Sinny is without doubt the greatest captain. A very good player wherever he plays always gives 110% for the team, inspirational and a legend, good on yer Sir Kev

| Not sure about "player"...but without doubt he is the most eloquent, inspirational [icaptain[/i
Nostalgia at least will always convince me that David Ward had parity, but it cannot be denied Sinfield has similarly led from the front to many more fantastic victories.
This one I think is the sweetest of all

| As a Saints fan, and even before last night, I have always had the utmost admiration for Kevin Sinfield. He is a complete player, leader and an absolute credit to your Club and the game in general. You are very lucky to have him.
Congrats again on last night - no arguments from me at all and good luck in the WCC - I'll be cheering you on.

| In the era I've watched yes.
Would have loved to have him in the red V in the past 10 years.

| My problem with Sinfield is that hes neither a 6 or a 13 and there are British players better in both positions. A superb leader at the Leeds club, and a great organiser. But I think the irreplaceable thing with him is his stature within the club. Due to that stature he inspires the rest of the players but i would not have him in the England squad because that presence he has that inspires does not carry forward onto the international scene. A great club man but i also think this stature was that caused you alot of problems with your bad start to the season, and a battle of wills with Brian Mc. There was an interview with Sinfield about the recent change on form where he stated that peoples roles within the club were now clear. For me that was Brian finally getting the respect from him that he was the manager and he is club captain and Brian is in charge not him.

Sinfield was referring to things not being clear under Bluey and that McDermott had had to come in and sort things out.

| Yes. I'm dreading the day he retires. It's not manly to cry on the terraces.

| Best - no.
Greatest - very possibly. He's the greatest captain by a distance.
This team is loaded with players who are or will go on to be club greats. If they made a shirt like the 1999 one again now there would be a hell of a lot more modern representatives than there were then

That day will come at some point but it's a good few years away yet.
He ends the game (and usually it's after the full eighty) appearing as fresh as a daisy. Ultimate dedicated athlete. When Hardaker received Gaskell's gift in the last minute who was it that was haring up in support on the inside if he needed it?
Not the most gifted player and certainly never been one of the fastest but he's always had an incredible engine.

Years off yet but I'd love him to do 20 years.
He's taken legend to new levels all ready and is only rivalled by Holmes for me in that category. Equalling his double testimonial would be something special in this era

| Alan Smith was another who did the double Testimonial thing at Leeds on reaching 20 seasons.
He once told me off though for commenting on his featuring yet again on a Headingley programme cover with, 'when you've been around as long as I have you deserve to be on every cover.'
