TOO RIGHT! Kevin once again showed his strengths as an intelligent and skillful master athlete and leader! Why does it take the national press so much effort to, sometimes grudgingly, recognise this perfect role model on and off the field? I do really know the answer to that question but the game on Saturday made a mockery of the performance and the antics of the other code's players who are not fit to lace his boots! Congratulations to the best team of athletes in the country - led by a star player who commands the greatest respect and who deserves every accolade going.

So proud of this great team! These same players, who put their all into the game, stop to chat in the supermarket, turn up weekly to train little ones in too-long shorts, show care and concern regularly for our disabled and dis-affected young people and lots more. They have hearts as big as they come!

If any of my youngsters want to succeed in any walk of life they need look no further for inspiration!

Maybe if Kevins political views are what we have been led to believe and he feels he could not accept a madal of empire or knighthood etc.Maybe Leeds city council could offer him the freedom of the city

In all seriousness do people think Kev will get the letter from Buck House?

Im not saying he isn't worthy but RL sin't exactly a big sport down Elizabeths way.

RL isn't exactly a big sport in Britain unfortunately. But we're trying to change that.

But you can't compare Kevin Sinfield to Harry Jepson OBE. Now there is a man who warrants ALL of your praise for what he's done and continues to do for not just the game, but kids all over the UK. He gives them hope, something to strive for.

If anyone needs a Knighthood it is he.

Apologies. Warrants. Not needs.

Agree - Harry is a very special man and certainly deserves recognition. He may well get a national award as part of the occasional nod to our sport. Kevin is also deserving of the pride of the city and it's high time he was able to bask in a bit of praise but he is so understated and modest he just gets on with his job quietly, kicking unlikely goals and leading with integrity and pride. Another true legend of the game in his lifetime and for many years to come.

At some point I wouldn't be overly surprised if Sir Kevin joined Harry Jepson on the honours list. A few RL players have had trips to the Palace for this purpose before.

i will come straight off the bat and say i loathe leeds, thats just rivalry, but kevin sinfield is one of the all time greats who is still currently playing. i would love to see him played in the right bloody position and lead england out as captain in november. I like this guy very much as mates of mine who know the fella say he is very humble and reserverd. These days in sports where players think there bigger than clubs and prima donna antics. the question with awards is not is he deserving enough a figurehead of our game, but would he feel thats its only a piece of shiny metal around his neck. We can all be safe in thinking that Sinfield would be the last person in the world to jump off a ferry...........maybe bailey, but its not the point. Kudos leeds for having this guy at the helm.

HAving worked with Kevin and watched him play over the past 10 or so years I don't think there is a better professional. He is a skillful and inteligent player who leads his team well and often turns a game.

So why is he never even nominated for Man of Steel? Crazy!

Its the old "everybody hates leeds" situation, nobody voted for leeds players or very few anyway, hes unfortunate that he plays for such a successful club, and we will be hated even more no we won it from fifth.

Bur Sir Kev is well worth the accolade of " Man of Steel", how he is not compared in the same light as Rangi "Im now english coz i cant get in the kiwi side" is beyond belief, just what will it take for this great to be recognised by his peers, trying not to look through the green glasses of course.

Waht did rangi do that was outstanding this year, score a great try in the semi, i have not seen enough of him live but what i have seen of him on sky this season, he couldnt lace the great ones boots.

I think you've taken your username too seriously.

Sir Kevin hasn't had the greatest season by his high standards, and given that the award is voted for before the Grand Final, he was never really in the running. 2005 was another story...

Rangi Chase trailed off a bit at the end of the season, but he was a one man army for the first half of the season.

I'd probably still have gone for Tomkins or Roby mind you, but this was not Sir Kevin's year.

To be honest,

I don't think he's that bothered by awards and accolades.

Aside from of course his:
2 League Leaders Shields
2 World Club Challenge Medals
His Harry Sunderland Award
His Lance Todd Trophy
5 Super League Grand Final Winner's rings
4 Super League Dream Team Appearances
His Rhinos Player of the Year Award
Oh, and Super League's record points scorer award.

Other than that, he can take or leave awards really.
