| That nice Mr O'Leary of Ryanair has gone cap-in-hand to the authorities at Leeds Airport and has signed a deal to make the place one of the airline's hubs.
This generally means there's going to be far more flights out of there next Summer.
Sadly, they've missed a trick for the rugby fans and picked Carcassone and Montpellier for the SW France airports they'll serve from Leeds (as opposed to Perpignan), but still close enough to make them viable options as an alternative to Girona for Catalans game next season.

Using Ryanair to fly to Nantes this week, flew to Manchester last two weekends, Portugal last December plus many other instances. Never had a problem. Heard of people with problems but either I've been lucky or they've been unlucky.
When I think 17 years ago I was paying £300 to fy from Manchester to Dublin Over the last 2 weekends I got 7 return flights for €250 (including credit card fees)

| 'm happy with that Girona flight they'll be putting on. I foresee every year now a few trips to see Barca play. We flew into Girona for the Cats match. to be honest its a doddle to get to perpignan from there. think it took us an hour which is only like driving to a match in Wigan. Would be handy to have flights to Perps but it'd probably be more expensive to fly there rather than Girona

| Wouldn't touch Ryanair with a bargepole.
Any business that views & treats its customers as they do does not deserve any.
My fear is that he's doing this to try to drive Jet2 out of business.
I can see this being a Pyrrhic victory for the new airport owners.

| A local on't news t'other night was complaining about the noise from the airport already without the Ryanair expansion. He lives near an airport... what did he expect? jet planes with silencers on?

I'm happy that my expectation of their customer service is not that high. It would be difficult to get over and see my family and let my kids see their relatives if Ryanair had not been around. 3 years ago I looked at going to seemy parents in Portugal and the price was about €1,300 for 5. I booked the year before last for €130 for 5. Last year €220 for 5.

My thoughts exactly.
Now while the airport does need options, it's an incredibly uncertain time and ryanair don't pull their punches.
JET2 has been good for Leeds and Yorkshire.
Regrading the locals who complain about the noise, it's like those around Headingley and their moans. UInless they are all 100+yrs .
Makes me laugh!

I do get ticked off at the charges for "extras" like checking in. How can checking in be an "extra" FFS? Can I bypass it?
I flew BMI straight to Perp this year and it was fairly cheap. I've done Girona before and its' as convenient as people say.

The check in should be part of the price really. Not an "extra".

Just wear every item of clothes you're taking with you, then you have no bag, save £20, and lose a few pounds.
Everyones a winner

| I will stick to Jet 2.
The amount of times I've been on them and rarely experienced problems. I for one do not hope they drive Jet 2 out of business.
As pointed out though, if people pay budget they expect budget. Although Jet 2 is relatively cheap, the standard of service is somewhat alot better than than the other airline in question.
