| Today's guardian has comments from our esteemed !! Mr Hetherington
Saying he has spoken to several Aussie clubs, regarding some kind of club
Competition.
Possibly on the lines of unions Heineken cup,if my memory serves me correctly, the last time this was tried all our top clubs were well and truly stuffed.
Does anybody think we would perform better,or have we gone back apace?

| I don't think we should be afraid of taking them on. If we continue to just take the attitude of 'oh what's the point, we'll just get beat anyway' then we will continue to get beat. To be the best you have to play the best.

| The last 2 world club challenges have not been a disgrace for either Wigan or Leeds, on another day they both might have won (only 2009 against Manly would I say Leeds were outclassed). It really depends how seriously the Aussie clubs would take it as to whether European clubs would have a chance

| They took it pretty seriously the last time something similar was tried.

| Depends how an expanded WCC would be organised, what time of the year it's played, venues, etc.
It would be competitive if...
[list[*SL kicks off in early December.[/*
[*SL clubs get at least 4 SL games under their belt.[/*
[*No opportunity for NRL clubs to play any warm-up fixtures of any kind.[/*
[*Players from NRL teams to travel to UK in Economy Class with generous 29" seat pitch leading to half the team developing DVT whilst eating their Xmas dinner on the plane. [/*
[*Ex-Aussie Test cricketer David Boon to accompany them, challenging them all to a drinking contest on the flight over.[/*
[*Expanded WCC to kick off on Boxing Day during NRL off-season immediately after they've just touched down.[/*
[*All games played in the UK and preferably staged at each SL clubs home ground.[/*
[*English referees to take charge of each game implementing SL rule interpretations.[/*
[*Unlimited interchange implemented to apply to SL teams only.[/*[/list

| I wonder why this is being talked about this week?
Next week it'll all be forgotten about until around the same time next year.

Because Russell Crowe forgot to mention it this time around.

To be preceded by [i"WCC to be staged in Dubai/Shanghai/Las Vegas/Hollywood"[/i before it's decided to stage it somewhere within reach of the M62.

| I think it'd be a great, if potentially painful, learning curve for the SL sides, and English players, so I'd love it to happen for that reason. However, I think there may be limited commercial interest in it. If it doesn't make enough money to make up for the reduced SL fixture list that would be necessitated then it won't happen. And it therefore won't happen.
True story.

| far too much fixture conjestion, only way for a competition with the aussies would be if super league went to 10 teams 2 leagues of 10 with 2/3 up down per season

| Anyone intent on ushering in the final death knell of the few remaining scraps of international RL would be well advised to support an expanded WCC competition.

I dunno, if you were going to shorten the domestic season (and as above, this isn't happening, so we're on a flight of fancy anyway) you could have all the SL clubs go to Aus for the first two games, and all the Aus clubs come here for the next two and tag on a test match after each leg. It'd certainly be better than a few years ago when we had that ill-fated one-off match down under and decided to add issues of time difference, travel weariness and acclimiatisation to the troubles of an already horribly over-matched GB side.

| It doesn´t have to Interupt things that badly, if you stagger the games over the whole year.
