| I got a free ticket and thought I would put my hatred of R.U to one side and actually go to my first ever RU game.
What a pile of absolute s***e
Though I was going to die of terminal boredom.
How can folk watch 80 mins of this rubbish, I dont understand the finer points of the game but I think I saw enough to realise Leeds are absolute crap and poorly coached.
Never again !!!

| It was a terrible game.
I watched Carnegie beat Gloucester on New Years Day (their ONLY league win of this season) and that was a great game, I watched them a few weeks ago come very close to beating Leicester and again you wondered how a team who could play that well could be rooted at the bottom of the table.
Yesterday evening was the must-win game of the season, home to second bottom, three points between the two, four points on offer, a decent win against Newcastle would have kick-started the late recovery - but they played like an average local club's veterans team, absolutely awful and only threatened to break the Newcastle line for about five minutes of the game, time and time again the ball went out to the right wing where a rag doll would have stood a better chance of breaking through, on the few occasions that it went to the left they made ground - so they threw it right again.
I'm just glad I got in for free, that the Carnegie bar was empty and they serve a decent espresso, everything else about last night was f'king dreadful and now all Newcastle have to do is to beat Leeds when they play them at home in a few weeks time (yes I'm going, ace ground is Newcastle's), Newcastle can safely lose every other game for the rest of the season because there is not a hope in hell that Leeds will win another.

| Nothing to do with the game but was that the big screen that was turned on or did sky just put theirs over the top of it?

I watched that too. If that was a great game I'm glad I missed the one Marathonman is talking about!! Sweet Jesus it's dull. I gave it a real chance too! Honest I did!! Was chuffed to see them win so the last 10 mins was good, as was the first 10. But minutes 11-69 were beyond dull.

From what I could tell it was the in-house production as it didn't have any of the Sky logos on - very good quality

It all depends on what you want to watch, if you appreciate the rucks/mauls/scrums for what they are and when you understand why a back player cannot be caught in possession in his own quarter then you'll start to "get" the difference - while you are forever comparing it to RL then you'll never understand.

| To be fair some Ru games are fairly interesting, the majority are dull. The problem with watching Leeds are that they are really bad and are neither good ie getting results or entertaining to watch

| I can quite happily watch both codes, and appreciate both games for what they are, but Leeds were dire yesterday
Still...hopefully if Otley stay up it'll mean a local derby again

| I think it's fair to say Carnegie have lost their paddle
seen a few Carnegie games this season (Stade Francais, Parma & Gloucester) and only against Parma did they look dominant and a good outfit (probably the opposition helped)

| Neil Back and his not so merry bunch of slackers, totally devoid of ideas, a total disgrace to the city of Leeds and not fit to play on the hallowed turf @ HQ.

| You do wonder about the longer term future for Carnegie, even if by some miracle they do manage to escape relegation this season.
They can't hold on to their best young players - today Kearnan Myall has announced he's off to Sale at the end of the season and Luther Burrell has rejected the offer of a new contract.
Add that to the likes of Dan Scarborough, Tom Biggs, Danny Care, Jordan Crane, Callum Clark, Tom Palmer and Stuart Hooper and they could have been in a much stronger position had they been able to retain some of the talent they have produced rather than have it move elsewhere.
They seem destined to a future of swapping divisions and acting as a feeder club for other Premiership teams.

IIRC they do and Leeds were making noises about keeping the squad together even if they got relegated, but it's easier said than done. Even last year when they avoided relegation, they still lost Callum Clark and Seru Rabeni.
Every offseason seems to be another rebuilding job in terms of the squad, scratching around the bargain bins to put a side together.

| That would make Leeds Carnegie the RU equivalent of Sheffield Eagles under Gary Hetherington.
