Doubt they will be many changes.Ackers from what ive been told wont be here next season.
That wouldn’t be too bad as long as he is replaced by a better hooker. A good hooker (which we don’t have at senior level at the club) makes every player on the field look better. PS, if it’s Gareth that’s told you, don’t believe him…

| Kendel is either useless or Corrupt, mayswel have wore a Wakey jersey last night
That said, we got what we deserved, stupid teams are always going to come unstuck, and we are as stupid as they come.
Added to a powder puff 2nd row combo, who were both dreadful yet again, and a marquee half who's just as bad, still plenty of work to do with the squad
Speaks volumes when an 18 yearold in his 2nd game, looks the most composed on the team

| In the cold light of day I think most people have now accepted our pretensions to being a Champion team we’re just that. The last month has shown where we sit realistically as a team. On last night in particular, we showed we lack the X factor players to dig us out of a hole, we have a team that lacks cohesion on a regular basis, and we need a ref that isn’t going to drain us of energy in the really close games. Kendall should really change his name by deed poll to Starmer because his application of justice is exactly the same, two tier and pernicious.

| Thought Kendall swung momentum Leeds way on a couple of occasions last night. At 8-2 Trinity were on top then forward pass twice and 2 penalties that were harsh to say the least and Rhinos are back in the game.
Second half Newman clearly and blatantly wraps his arm around Pitts leg and locks him up then Ref gives a penalty to Leeds from which O’Conner scored his try.
In general I think the Ref was poor rather than biased though

Weird how you don't think he swayed it Wakeys way when he gave them a set 6 for nothing, followed by a yellow card for a trip the likes of which we've seen not penalised at all this season, for their opening try

Absolutely gutted to lose that one. Cannot fault the effort given the injuries before and then during the game, but it just seems like some of the lads don't have, and might never the develop, the composure to win big games. We tried our best to lose the gane on multiple occasions in the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half, and that kind of self inflicted damage always catches up with you in the end. Positives: Watkins was all class; Cassell is going to be a great player; Jenkins gets better every time I see him, and some of Newmans defensive contacts were awesome. Trying not to be too downhearted but it's going to be really tough to make top 4.
5/6th is probably realistic for where we are at this season, a step forward (defensively) from last season, but still got many of the same basic flaws. We shoot in far too often in defence out wide, we don’t win the collision and slow the PTB enough. With the ball we are still not structured, we lack speed and skill and we go for miracle plays that the players are not good enough to execute. I'd disagree slightly. I think winning the collision is by far the most improved part of our game. It’s what happens when we either get bored with winning the collision but not establishing scoreboard dominance, or lose a couple of collisions and start shoving panic balls out of the back, that really hurts us. There's still too many Corporal Jones in the team.

| It wasn't an easy game to watch. We're clearly missing two of Oledski/Holroyd/Gannon/Smith in the forwards, and Bentley didn't help us by taking out Connor and then immediately losing the ball afterwards.
That said, despite the multiple occasions in which we coughed up the ball, we were actually in with a good shout of winning after O'Connor's try. People are complaining about our attack but we had so little ball (a lot of that was our fault, admittedly). There's still too much Rohanball DNA in this side, we've gone back to spending long spells in the game doubling down on errors and penalties and we can't front load defensive effort for long if that keeps happening.
It's difficult to know where Leeds need to go next. Is it just a case of getting a few more bodies back and working harder on mental composure? Or do we start looking at individuals? Or both? I have to say at this point in the season I'd much rather we had given a contract extension to Lisone than Bentley, and even McDonnell. I don't want to turn Bentley into the new scapegoat, probably he's fine in the team as a squad player.
As for the backs we have Sivo to come back in next season. Edgell has shown up as being a bit better than I originally gave him credit for, maybe there's a SL player in there but I'm still not seeing a top 4 winger - Lumb at least seems more potent with ball in hand. I like Newman and Handley lately, but missing that longer-range strike from Handley since he's moved to centre. If Bentley is too small for a forward, Hall is too big and lethargic to be our first choice winger - he's just better (right now) than Edgell/Lumb in bringing the ball back in yardage.

I think the mental side of the game is largely a collective issue, in having trust that 1-17 will do their jobs as per the game plan. That, of course, then comes down to individuals doing just that. If any go off piste, then that's where the second guessing come in and the wheels can come off very quickly, as we've seen far too often this season. On field leadership , something I think we lack, is needed to bring things back in line, and while not a magic bullet, gives some stability and gets everyone back on message. Sivo will be a huge plus next season, not that Edgell/Lumb have done anything wrong. His yardage bringing the ball out, and his ability 10m from the try line will be massive. The conundrums at 2nd row / hooker rumble on and we are lacking genuine pace. Listening to IB, though, I'm confident that he's all over it.

With the missing forwards back nobody will relish facing us in the play offs, but I don't see the right mix of composure and game breaking talent that it might take to win 3 games. To move forward next year I think we'll need to replace Gannon with a 2nd rower who can provide a point of difference, a prop who is as good as the best of Lisone, and a back who can add a bit of stardust. In terms of the latter, I would be having a very close look at the union player (Murphy) at Salford. While he would need some polish we are crying out for a player with his pace and athleticism. If we don't make a move for him he'll be lighting it up at Wigan or Wire before long.
