For me that is our season effectively over. It was our only chance of silverware and it’s gone. We look absolutely clueless near the oppositions line and despite defending well for the first half we weren’t strong enough physically or mentally to maintain the required level. I think it’s unrealistic to judge a team over 40 mins and hope they can replicate that good 40 for both halves in future games. The better physical specimens will ultimately fare better over the full 80 minutes and we obviously don’t have enough in our current strongest 13. I fear the rest of the season we will just be judging how much we’ve improved by how small a margin we can lose by against the best opponents.
I've never seen a player blow a chance of a contract extension as quickly as Lisone. What a waste of time he's been. Frawley at least offers professionalism and consistency within the obvious limitations of his abilities. It's crystal clear that both need to leave next year, but I wouldn't be too fussed if Lisone went tomorrow.

| I've been consistently critical of Lisone since the Rohan days. Two unforced errors with game-changing circumstances from him. It's time to drop him for a few games. I'd imagine there are already no plans to renew his contract.
Connor adds a lot from the halves but there's a lot of work needed to turn him into a top half-back. He was exposed defensively for one of the Saints tries, and his lack of pace is a problem, especially if we want to play him at full-back. And then there was the silly pass to Lumb...
I thought Miller was really strong, showing us what we've been missing, especially given that he's only trained with the team once (according to Arthur), and they were not expecting him to play the full 80. He's a difficult runner to handle with his tackle busts, and defensively is much better at stopping breaks (than Connor). I appreciate they have different roles, but I stand by my comment of a few weeks ago that Miller has been a better signing than Croft - we consistently get more out of Miller, and the mistakes are getting less frequent.
Leeds probably need to bite the bullet with Croft and potentially look at letting him go when his Australia release clause next becomes active. The fact that Jake Connor looks more creative in the halves after a handful of games says it all. We should be getting more from our investment. Still time to see him at his best if Arthur gets the team to start performing.
Forwards were good, Lisone aside. Why commentators can't separate Oledski and Jenkins is getting pretty embarrassing - the other week it was Palasia and Lisone! Predictably Kyle Amor was in amore with the Saints forwards for most of the game, but Leeds were actually bossing it for large segments let down only by individual errors.

| I thought Oledski and Jenkins were excellent probably the best two props on the pitch

| It’s nearly always the high earners and big signings that are under performing ever week. Why does O’Connor get dropped and not the dire Ackers.
Arthur needs to start dropping the likes of Croft, Ackers, Newman, lisone, Frawley, Bentley.
Keep respecting the same mistakes get the same results.
We cannot compete with Wigan next week, let’s give the fringe players some game time see what they can do.

Not sure why you’re picking Newman and Bentley out, they both played well yesterday. Surrendering the Wigan game is just daft. It’s arguably the best fixture to have after last nights game. The team needs stability not chopping and changing

| Didn’t think Newman did anything special last night, scored a try whoo hoo. He’s been dire for too long now.
What did Bentley do last night of note. Abysmally small for Super League level. Drops the ball a lot, penalty machine, makes little yards, no pace,. doesn’t make breaks. in his fourth season here and had about 3 good games ever.
Players like both the above are why we are where we are, neither would get anywhere near a place in golden era sides and neither would get in any top. 6 super clubs. Our basic quality of player is sub std. the reason year in year we keep failing is fundamentally our squad is low quality, mesmerising to think we are allergy at full capacity.

Harry Newman is the incumbent England Centre, to say he wouldn’t get into a top Six SL side is ridiculous.

| I agree both Newman and Bentley probably 2 of our best players. Connor should play in the halves but does lack pace. Holroyd in for Lisone and O`Connor for Ackers the only changes for me.

| Thought we matched them, and for large parts, got the better of them, in the physical battle.
Big difference was the intelligence.
Sam Lisone, already been highlighted, James McDonnell with yet another stupid, pointless PTB penalty, deep in their territory, he does it every game, and its bloody infuriating.
Overall though, thought it was a good battle, unfortunately we seem to be cursed with idiotic moments and no attacking structure

| It seems that we always bemoan the lack of attacking structure no matter who the coach is. The same complaints were made when McClelland, McDermott, Agar, and Rohan were all here. It makes you wonder if it's actually primarily a coaching issue.

| I feel sorry for BA - he has come from a competition/culture of professionalism. Where players focus on core attributes of fitness and basic skills.
Sadly the players in the SL don't have these attributes. Week after week we see players miss tackles drop balls show a distinct inability to run practiced plays and run out of gas early.
It is no surprise that England have improved with the addition of more NRL players. Until we have more competition for places and a stronger player pool this apathy will continue. Players know they will get picked every week regardless of how fit they are or how well they play
The standards of skill and fitness in SL are shocking and when compared to the NRL - where BA has previously worked - it is a pale shadow of the latter. It is no shock how few SL raised players are wanted and are successful in the NRL
