It's whether Arthur sees it that way though. He's very hard-nosed and I'm not sure that a highly rated youngsters gets picked ahead of a journeyman (for want of a better word) who maybe is 10% ahead in terms of immediate gain.

Littlewood doesn't turn 18 till January, so realistically he shouldn't be anywhere near the 1st team for a couple of years. What the club needs to do is come up with a proper pathway for lads like him, Lumb, McCormack etc. To my mind that would involve time at championship clubs where they are actually going to play. We are short for senior second rowers with only Bentley, McDonnell and Gannon, so a player like Livett on a one year contract would be a good move in my opinion.

Fair play. That's right. Regardless, I still think he needs development away from the club and wouldn't see any harm in Livett coming in for a year.

I just cannot see any point at all in signing Livett, he’s surplus to requirements at one of the 3 worst sides in the league, and is utter gash! its the sort of signing Rowan smith would make, and how we are still trying to get rid of deadwood, not sign more deadwood.

What stories about him being homesick? If anything the stories about him going into coaching in Australia (implying ongoing injury issues) are the ones that are being called into question by this news. Maybe he just didn't settle in Leeds, didn't have a clear idea what he wanted to do next, and then a good opportunity presented itself? Maybe France suits him better than Leeds? Maybe men having their hair a couple of inches longer than average doesn't carry the same stigma as it does in the north of England
