Scoring goals was highlighted at the start of the season as an issue - this team needs 10-15 scoring opportunities to convert a goal. This will continue until Farke changes the way the team develops its attacking strategy.
Will they get automatic promotion - not unless they find a way to convert the chances on a more regular basis and find a way of changing the approach when away from home.'"
I’m happy with Farke in the hot seat, he’s given us a good chance of promotion after two really difficult and turbulent pre season’s. Hats off to him. I think he showed fear last season by sticking with the same players and formation when it started going pear shaped at the back end, 4 points from the last 18 and struggling to score goals. He never gave Joseph a chance when he should have done, he stuck with the likes of Piroe and Bamford who ultimately weren’t good enough. Would Joseph have made a difference ? Based on what we’ve seen this season possibly not, but it then had the knock on effect of having to blood Joseph this season and now realising he probably isn’t the answer. He should have had the game time last season to make a better judgement on him and then possibly brought another forward in who could make the difference for this season. Like I say, Farke appeared to be racked with fear in the run in and stuck with the same old players and system that unfortunately failed. Some of the goal scoring problems remain from last season, 170 corners without a goal was a joke, nobody with the required quality to score direct from a free kick, no goals from midfield (and still none this season), no centre forward fast enough to run in behind defenders to score, no centre forward smashing defenders out of the way to score with headers, I could go on. When you are finding so many ways to not score goals, mostly away from home, you will ultimately struggle. Like you say Zoe Zoe, Farke needs to start finding a way.
