IMG Gradings Cause ControversyReaction to the IMG preliminary grading of clubs has had a very mixed response from clubs and fans alike with those faring well being relatively comfortable with their score, while those who are down the rankings kicking back against the system, criteria, the Rugby Football League, and IMG.There is no question that IMG have been handed a poisoned chalice, and it is impossible for them to make proposals to expand the game without upsetting a few, of not the majority of clubs. But if you believe what a lot of fans say, in that the game is dying, then there seems to be little option than to try something radical and make a change at a fundamental level.Social media is awash with criticism, but those with the most to lose will always shout the loudest, there are unlikely to be many evangelists putting a positive slant on the proposals, as those who are destined to benefit will keep their heads below the parapet. | I don’t get why people feel the need to say lauding a success like this is an issue.
It’s clear the on field performance hasn’t been good enough.
But at some point you have to be a fan of the game and if we had a few more clubs run off the field like ours is we’d be in a lot better place as whole.
(Not aimed at you Shabs, mainly because I couldn’t tell if you were being sarcastic)

Which we’ve now clearly tried to address. Hopefully we’ve got both parts right for the first time in a while.

1230.gif “You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”:1230.gif |

The gradings are worthless for me, they basically reflect what the Super League clubs want, a system that closes the shop to protect themselves, but will actually weaken the game as a whole.
To be honest, Leeds are running fine, they have solid income and could run a pro setup even if one of the main income streams is severely reduced because they have multiple big ones, but they could be run better.
On the field the issues with the squad have been clear to me for 10-15 years, and hopefully this off season is a sign of a change of direction, rather than a one off. Even off the field, I always think we could be doing better. No point comparing ourselves to other clubs that are not sitting on a level playing field, just build on our own success/weaknesses. e.g our average crowds are lower than they were a few years back, and since I started watching our stadium capacity has steadily getting smaller showing we don't intend to grow those numbers (and we still don't fill it for big games).

Despite what some say, whole sport is on its knees though. Problem is endemic…..
