Every signing is becoming yet another journeyman, plodder, solid pro, project etc, etc, etc.
And it keeps being defended.
Still the wait goes on for any kind of exciting signing.....

Erm he hasn’t signed. i was just giving my opinion on a player, who as i say a decent one.

The reality seems that you can’t attract the top players, unless you are dining at the top table. We are putting together a solid squad as that’s all we can do. Team needs to become cohesive as we just can’t sign the ‘stars’ to get instant success….

I`m basing my comments on us not announcing anyone yet and hoping the reason is down to us waiting until the GF and the NRL GF is over to make our statement signing.
If we have made a signing why isn`t it announced yet?
Unless a) we are waiting to announce 2 or 3 players at the same time b) the signing is still in the playoffs or c) we are feeding off scraps and going for bargain basement eg O`Brien
I live in hope like I said in my earlier post.

There’s loads of player signings that don’t get announced until later on, especially from the NRL, eg some of our recent signings that were seen as big ones (tetevano, fusitua, Prior) weren’t announced until after the season ended, I think prior was November and Tetevano was on Christmas day.

The talk on here is also as if we are the only club who hasn’t finalised their squad when that simply isnt true.

Have to say I'm personally not a fan of the kind of O'Brien/Powell type hooker signing. Danny Levi I'd have taken because he's a step above what we have for a year or two... We're going to have to play CJ at some point or he'll go anyway. I was impressed with him against Cas, saw a glimmer of the promise he showed through the juniors.

We have a couple of other good hookers but I'd rather we signed Harvey Smith from Wakey as understudy to CJ rather than a "solid pro" over CJs (and O'Connor's) head.

We have struggled at 9 for a long time now, I really don't think another average/solid hooker is what we need at all. I'd probably try to sort out the half back and centre, ideally another non-quota big body prop, and then risk 9 with CJ and JOC. If they don't work out this year then we'll have to go overseas again for a player more than likely, which is where we might need to swap one of our other OOC overseas players (Fus, Martin, Lisone I think?)

Even for you that is a dead turd comment we finished 8th saying stuff like that won't change anything.

We literally did get the ball back a handful of times - that has nothing to do with us being abject in most other facets of the game. Short kick offs are not the devil; our main issue is the quality of the squad.

I don’t really care if we win any trophies I just want a few on here to repeat these magical words next season:
