This isn’t strictly true. Holding his registration simply means he cannot enter any RFL sanctioned competition. The NRL isn’t an RFL sanctioned competition so their administrators could simply wave him through. The RFL make a big show of working collaboratively in these incidents when it’s an Australian player coming to the UK by maintaining their rulings, but the NRL would do whatever suits them best at the time. Since there is no governing body which both the RFL and NRL submit to there is no way to universally ban him.
It would absolutely be a breach of contract if he did that, but it would be on Leeds to pursue that through the courts.
