At this time of year and our overseas quota taken up the cap space might not be much use.

At least we're in a position where we won't have to pay overs on a long-term deal for someone out of desperation. There might be some value in signing another reserve hooker on a short-term deal, as we're down to the bones there now. I thought O'Connor might make a hooker before he was given a go there. I'm less convinced we can rely on Bentley having played there as a kid, which is something Smith has referenced a few times about other players, and I'm not sure it holds up in practice. Really though young Johnson needs to be given a crack. We need to find out once and for all whether he'll make it.

Our focus for next year must be about quality for the spine. It will be a bit annoying if we have to add hooker to that list as well. Leeming may not be a superstar (or as good as he thinks?) but with him in the squad it was the strongest spine position. Now that's looking shaky as well....

It will be interesting to see what we do. There doesn't seem to be many available pivots of the required quality at the moment, or any OOC. If we really want to strengthen then we may need to get the cheque book out.

Whilst he was ok, it's the most important position in the pitch. If he's not good enough then we should set out sights higher. It gives O'Connor and Johnson a chance to fulfill potential. We can look at hooker's and fullbacks for next year and see where we get to

I would imagine that O’Connor is now established as No 1 hooker at least for this year and good luck to him. If improves this season at the same rate as last he will be some player. My thoughts are that we bring in another young hooker from either the championship or league 1. Gives cover and provides competition for both O’Connor and CJ and who knows we might uncover another gem. Personally I’m relaxed and if Leeming wants out good decision all round. It does free up cap space for this year and going into next year when it’s possible a reshuffle of our spine takes place.

I don't think we'll recruit a 9 during the season.
We'll stick with what we've got, but we surely have to give Johnson a decent go for the rest of the season.
I think he'll be looking at an NRL 9 for next year, when Tet and Fusitua leave and free up some cap.

What are thoughts on where Leeming might be going, would you happy for him to be released now to join Wigan for example ?
Or Catalan?

I would have thought n z warriors or wests are most likely if he heads down under but that seems unlikely to me.
