Quote: Leeds_Luke "You lot have got short memories. Kieron Cunningham kept Roby out of the starting hooker position until he retired from playing. He wouldn't have kept Roby out if the hooker role for 6 seasons, and score about a third more tries (in less games), featured in the Super League Dream Team more times, and voted in as hooker for the "Greatest Ever Super League Team" if Roby was better.
The 2006 St Helens team would destroy the current one. I don't know where people get that the current team is the greatest Super League or Saints team ever. They looked clueless without Roby's leadership when things started to go wrong on Friday.'"
I'm a lifelong Leeds fan, but I find the "doing down" of the current Saints team tedious. The facts are: They have won four in a row, they have finished top three out of four times, they have lost a handful of games (some of them when putting out weakened sides) and they have just beaten the Australian champions in Australia, something only the great Wigan side of the 90's could manage. Revisionist blue and amber recollections regarding the standard of the league when Leeds were top dogs don't hold water. There were a few good sides, many average ones, and some absolute dross. Leeds fans need to stop living in the past and focus on now. Rant over.
