Does there seem to be an tang of bitterness in that statement from York or is it just me?

Is he an out and out prop or more of a backrower?

I get the feeling that he is a fan of big athletic forwards, but not that keen to pay out massive wages to get them.

Yeah I like this sort of recruitment. Young, British, big lad with good athleticism and bags of potential. Wont have cost much in salary either. It fits in perfectly with Smith's coaching in that he particularly enjoys improving young players with talent. Welcome to the Rhinos.

But a bit like Walters, he will potentially develop the physique to transition to prop if he fills out.
Played youth and amateur rugby at Heworth and New Earswick, where I know some of the coaches.
He was the biggest lad in the squad, so was usually played at prop.
But his physique now is typically a back row.
Not been pro at York very long, which is why they're disappointed he's moved on so quickly.
But I guess you can't expect him to turn down the opportunity.
Excited to see how he gets on with his development.
