I avoided listening but it wasn't as bad as I'd feared. He uses way too many metaphors but he was quite honest about things not being good enough and needing players to work with each other to sort things out. The other thing he needs to stop doing is referring to himself and his own experiences all the time - I'm quite sure Wayne Bennett never references his life or career when talking to players, and if I were a 20-year old it would be the last thing I'd care about anyway.

But he's a tyro coach in a no-win position. I wish him well as long as he's coach, but he really needs to go and learn his trade somewhere else if he wants to be a coach.

Phil Daly should be drawing a veil over these press conferences somehow. They're just damaging JJB's reputation.

What was previously funny or mildly thought-provoking in his guise as an analyst or corporate entertainer comes across as moronic or insubstantial when said from the mouth of a Super League Head Coach.

I can't watch them without cringing every 15 seconds or so.

JJB has to take some responsibility for the mess we are in, as he was part of Agars backroom team.
That said he seems to be getting a pretty rough ride on here for how he comes across in a press conference or on TV. Yes he does like to use metaphors and obviously has strong spiritual beliefs that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but so what. His love and passion for the club is undeniable and that always comes across whenever he speaks. There was an obvious improvement in the players attitude and effort on Friday, and if that was down to JJB getting his points across in a way that doesn't suit a few on here then tough.It is how the players respond that counts.
He is likely to only be in charge for a few weeks at most but hopefully he can start the turnaround.

We’re not dissing him. I love listening to the man talk. Some people are visionaries or Before their time. JJB is actually about 2000 years after his time. I’m sure he’d have a captive audience on the banks of the Dead Sea, wearing flip flops and draped in a rhinos flag…..
