I would say Donaldson has been one of our most consistent performers over the last couple of years.
No world beater but has the heart of a lion and never stops trying.
Thompson as a squad player is ok and got us out of a hole last year.
Luke better than brother Tom but granted not a top 4 team player.
Saying that we are not a top 4 team yet.

This is the largest club in SL surely our aspirations are significantly higher than the likes of Briscoe, Donaldson and Thompson. Would these players get a game at Saints, Wigan, Warrington? If we want to compete we have to have a team that offers more than just effort

Agreed, but he'll probably be in the squad on merit tonight. Next year with Bentley, Gannon a year older and another middle still to come - maybe not. He is not my idea of a top class rugby league player, but I have huge respect for him. When we're winning the Grand Final again he may not be lifting the trophy, but he will have played an important in turning the ship round.

I don’t know if any team can find the money or the available quality to have much depth in SL.

Part of the reason we signed Donaldson was as a professional role model for the youngsters. We see a player for 1hr 20 each week at most; but the contribution they make is throughout a whole week.

Work ethic needed to be re-established at the club and I agree with that. Young lads need role models to learn from, and that can’t just be based on natural talent.

Donno wouldn’t get in my 17 next year but I think he’a been a good signing. Thompson should have been a 1 year deal, 2 most.

Luke has mostly been solid. Again he is at best 3rd winger in the pecking order - who do you want there Wendell Sailor?

The reason we’ve let him go is either because we have a better senior player in mind, or we feel that Tindall, Broadbent we al can equally well fill in as reserve wingers at this point. Which I’d agree with.

People say that teams that win titles wouldn't have Donaldson in their side are talking out of their proverbial.

We won titles with Kirke, Walters, Keinhorst etc. Players at a similar level. And that was in an era where the competition was stronger.

It's a salary cap sport, you can't have top quality 1-17 every week.

That's when we had Sinfield Mcguire Peacock Burrow our quota spots included Lauititi Webb Moon Donald Leuleai Delaney etc.
The current make up of this Squad is nowhere near that quality or skill level.
