| Quote Simmo71="Simmo71"But the ball is touched 8 foot in the air!
So how can you be certain where the grass line is?
I agree it was a knock on, but I don't think it was a clear and obvious error by the ref.
Anyway, will take it - they've gone against us before now.'"
We were sat level and it looked a try to me, would have been very unhappy if Leeds had scored that and had it ruled out but was borderline I guess.
Think it’s all been said but along with the spirit shown, one thing that impressed me was we got the win despite an awful kicking game compared to FC.
On another level to FC was the Catalan kicking game, Maloney was superb all round, they’ve a great spine but will miss him next year.
Hopefully next year our kicking will be much improved.

| I don't know how they had enough evidence to overrule Hull try, but glad they did.
Connor should've been sin binned for late hit on Myler. Tetevano has been given lengthy bans for that.
I don't blame Newman for early knock on which shifted momentum. Leeming was too close to him when he finally decided to look for a pass.
I saw in live time Luke Briscoe carelessly step on the line and shook my head on each of the 6 replays.
Really awful drop goal attempts, but a win is a win and with the injuries we've had, I'm just glad we're being competitive.
I didn't envisage Cas getting in the play offs or Hull FC sliding a couple of months ago. I thought Hull KR were a shoe in with their easy fixtures.
I'm glad Saints can't catch Catalan, but I can't help feeling we should put the reserves in and go all out v KR.

Totally agree. I wouldn't be surprised if we were bottom when it comes to tries from kicks. I much prefer to see them come via flowing handling but, scores from kicks often make the difference in close games.

| I think the drop goal attempts show a decline in the skill levels across the sport. I think the focus at the moment is a bit too much on being an ultra-athlete rather than an all round skilled rugby player.
I'm not really a union fan, but I watched the highlights of the Premiership final from last season. I don't think there are any players in SL that are anywhere near to Marcus Smith from quins or Simmonds form Exeter in terms of skill.

| In my mythical world all players should have a basic kicking game and halves should be able to pass off both hands to the same standard.
These are full-time sportsmen and they have all been learning and training the game since they were in their teens or younger. Personally I don't think that's too much to expect at this level.
Dwyer's ability to hit a player with a pass just behind the ear is incredible. Passing is probably my biggest bug-bear of the moment - it kills your momentum and introduces errors if you don't get it right. Easier said than done under fatigue I know.

| As we went into extra time most of the pundits were calling a Leeds win. I can't see how we could possibly be favourites going into golden point against a team with Sneyd in it. I didn't really see where the DG would come from. I think the attempts we made before Leeming finally landed show how awful we are at DGs with Gale off the pitch, they were laughably bad. Defensive line deserve huge credit for managing to keep Sneyd out of range long enough for us to finally land one. Incredibly tight game. Very relieved to see that ball finally sail over.

| It was when Leeming said "I don't practice them" re DGs and I'm thinking, well why not? Even if you might not want Tom Holroyd knocking them over (and who knows, you might), we should have at least 4-5 players who can. It's not unusual to have players injured, or caught up in a tackle or whatever - plus you can fool the defence more easily if you have more than one option (and we did do a great job on Sneyd to mark him out).
You see the difference when Maloney struck a beauty under pressure and nailed it first time.

| Maloney's was good, granted. OTOH you see a hell of a lot butchered during golden point even by players who have practiced .
TBH, if we have to have golden point I'd rather see the rules changed and have it settled by first side to score a try rather than a DG.

| Golden point is trash, the elation of drawing level then the final whistle, followed by 0-10 minutes of tired players doing terrible drop goal attempts until one goes over. Point each, move on.

| Yes BUT the two golden point game on Saturday were absolute drama weren't they? RL is an entertainment business.
Personally, I don't have a problem with draws but I can see why we have golden point too. I may have a less even view of this had we lost to FC though!
