Quote: Marty Grrrrrrrrrr! "Nobody is forcing you to watch it. If its so bad why would you spend your pastime watching it? Just so you can moan about it. I just dont get it at all.

When we was in our prime it was Leeds and Saints and rest was miles behind before that it was Bulls and Saints, Years before that it was Wigan and nobody, Melbourne have pretty much been best team in NRL for donkeys years and still are
Patriots in NFL, Barca and Real in La Liga, Man City with Chelsea or Liverpool dominate Premier League. Its the same in all team sports.'"

Sanctimonious much Marty, what do you suggest? Maybe following the plight of a football team I've no affiliation with then spending all my time commenting on a thread to wind their fans up? <REMOVED - Please leave such issues to be dealt with by the Moderators and Admins> No, I just don't get that funnily enough, seems an even more strange way to spend your pastime.

The standard for a while has been average at best, throw in this seasons tribulations and it is bordering on unwatchable. You can still have a couple of runaway teams at the top (that's elite sport you're right) while having a good standard below it, we've had that in our history, but not now.

I've been involved in the game and watched it for a great many years and despite a flippant comment from me it does sadden me greatly that we cant get this game right from the administration downwards. I've commented a few times when I've enjoyed the games and I've commented when it's been poor, just like yourself, Agar himself seems to bemoan his sides poor performance in more post match pressers than not ('atrocious' was his word of choice this week, you don't have to watch it then moan Rich!) So get off your high horse trying to hold everyone to some sort of standard when you're certainly no better yourself. (ooh look I'm taking this board too seriously again icon_rolleyes.gif)

"Look, I'd never use injuries as an excuse..." Daryl Powell:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23603.jpg

We should though in mitigation a few of our young players, not to mention a couple of our older ones, must be utterly drained. Back in the day, when we used to moan about the easter fixtures, it was common to see that big performance on the thurs/friday against top table opposition only to back up with a feeble show on the monday against a side we'd otherwise have taken apart. Well, every week is pretty much like that now. In that light it's maybe surprising our recent run of better form lasted as long as it did.

The players are knackered, the coaches have little opportunity to work with them, and form is quite fickle.

Physically, how you get through three SL games in 7 days or so.. I would literally die.

This.

I think people have expectations that are too high in the current climate. I've got a mate who's played NRL amd SL and he said the recovery for 1 game a week is vital. It's crazy what the players are being put through now.

Quote: KaeruJim "Having flat performances is inevitable - you can get them even with a nice weekly format, never mind the crazy season we've had. Stinker or stonker against Hull - anyone's guess.

It is very difficult to see the side we have limping into the back end of the season troubling Cats or Saints.

For me the Wakey result reinforced our calls for another first grade prop. Without Mik, having Tommy still quite injury prone and then Prior out of form, Tet with discipline problems, Thompson just not good enough at prop, and King on the way out... we couldn't create a platform against at best a mid-table opposition.

We don't really have anyone ready to come in from Academy at prop and so I think we need someone good up front. It gives us more options on rotation, more options at loose forward, and more resiliency for injury so it's a "no-brainer" for me if we can find the right player.

We pretty much have the halves fixed up for next year in theory but I actually think Austin's form will be important for us.

Reasonably happy with the side otherwise for 2022. A really good pre-season is so important for us, with a young side and an obvious need to get some field work in from the coaching staff.

I'd like to see us run with Newman at 3 and Broadbent at 4 for a few games. Not ideal for Jack on that left edge missing the first choice 11 and 7 but it is what it is.'"

I thought over the games with Leeds this season we have been unlucky not take every game but as Leeds are a mid table team at best Luke us I suppose they go either way
