| Quote christopher="christopher"Yep that's probably likely aswell
Just not sure where he fits in at Saints haven't they just signed a replacement for Naiqama? so he'd be 3rd choice.
Now he may be third choice for us depending on how Broadbent develops but Id say he has more chance of starting for us'"
Completely agree, especially now with Alex Sutcliffe going to Cas.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hopoate starts at full back, with Hurrell at centre.

They'd be mad not to give Welsby the Number 1 spot IMO

| At Age 30 i'm sure Hurell is wanting some stability at this stage of his career. he'll want 2 years minimum i reckon surely..

| Stability is what's been lacking in his performances. While I agree that a half pairing with more nouce will take advantage of his strengths if it was between him and a another high quality prop I know what I'd go for considering hurrells deficiencies and the options developing at centre.

| I suppose from a personal perspective if Hurrell does go its a shame that most of his time at Leeds has been played throughout covid with no or limited crowds, whatever his down sides he’s certainly entertaining

Welsby is a fantastic talent and he does look to be a natural full back and with Coote moving to Hull KR for 2022 it leaves Saints with the big call on his future position
He could be the starting full back for both Saints and England for a decade

Quote tad rhino="tad rhino"saints already said he will play fullback next year'"
https://www.saintsrlfc.com/2021/07/29/w ... k-in-2022/
Our backline next year will be
1. Welsby
2. Makinson
3. Hopoate
4. Percival
5. Grace
With Josh Simm backing up (like Welsby has this year) and Nisbet and Martyn behind him in case of an injury crisis in the three quarts.
My understanding is we enquired to Hurrells agent whilst the Hopoate negotiations were ongoing as an option in case we couldn’t reach an agreement. Since we have, it wouldn’t make much sense, with us still talking to an unnamed prop and second rower in the NRL (lots of names flying around) as well as Joey Lussick. It may be possible after those signings for us to bring another in, and it may be possible we’re looking at Hurrell for that role (I know Woolf is a big fan of him) but that’s pure speculation?
