I don't know mate: we have Leeming, Dwyer, Johnson, and Bentley has played there - plus O'Connor could. I don't see any more need at hooker - certainly not what Austin could bring anyway.

Looking at his skillset and the way we play I can only see Stand Off or Fullback for Austin. He's not a winger we all know that, and I don't see him at Hooker or Loose Forward either as he's just not physical enough. He could possibly play as an emergency Centre, but we'd have to have an injury crisis of biblical proportions to need to play him there.

Totally agree that had we not got Gale and Sezer then Austin would be a good signing.
Yes it`s good to have a player of Austins ability asa backup if we have an injury crisis.
But to have him sat in the stands just in case seems a waste to me.
The only reason imo he`s been signed is to replace Gale.
A prop forward is what we need.

This season has shown how exposed we are to an injury crisis. The club are taking zero chances in a season like next year when four clubs get relegated. Three half backs fighting for two spots is part of that.
If it all goes well we could have a championship winning squad, especially as St Helens are struggling a bit with retention and salary cap management.
