| Some people aren't half drama queens, deary me, embarrassing reading some of the above. It makes you wonder how they got through the '80s and '90s if the current situation is all too much for them (although perhaps they were amongst the missing when things got tough back then too).
It's pretty clear on Myler:
1. Leeds said no way will we be able to extend your contract on anything like you are currently on.
2. Myler went off and found a good deal elsewhere.
3. Myler started the season exceptionally (which wasn't really a surprise to some of us who had always wondered what he might be able to do if used correctly and not paired with disastrous half back partners).
4. His deal at Toronto fell through.
5. Leeds ended up agreeing reduced terms for a very, very useful player who can fill a lot of gaps for us.

Indeed. It will have changed our strategy significantly

| Didnt think id be saying this before the season started, but quite happy he's re-signed, he's shown to be a valuable player with his new found versatility.

| Quite pleased he is staying for his utility value. Now we have Gale to do the job of organising the team, which unfortunately Myler seemed incapable of doing, he has been a good asset. He has proved our best option at Fullback when Walker is missing, which is pretty often atm. He can provide cover at hooker and could play outside Gale in the halves.
I'm not sure he will be in the side with everyone fit but if he happy to provide cover it sounds a good deal to me.

Agreed. I think the club realise he can make an impact in a number of positions. He’s quite a natural support player and try poacher but not an organiser.

| Assuming he isn't on a fortune I think it's a decent deal. Walker seems injury prone to me and experienced cover in the halves sounds ok to me.
Has the lad from the eels signed for wigan?

'" I very much hope he wasn't signed with the intent of him doing that role because Myler is simply not that player. He always needed to be paired with an organising half back and instead we gave him Joel Moon and Tui Lolohea (before Lolohea briefly turned into the reincarnation of Wally Lewis).
Him plus Gale rather than Lui in the halves remains a very interesting option in my view but not one which Agar has yet needed to or been able to explore.

| Myler is a good player, but he has never been a consistent top-4 side player in his career IMO. So yes, as a utility player with a very good attitude and a good role model for the young lads I get it.
My problem is with the cost. We are in a financial hole it seems, and we clearly haven't been in the market for the kind of signings we've made in the past (or we've made a mess of it when we have splashed cash).
I suspect none on here know what Myler's contract is worth - we are assuming less than the original. He doesn't have great options - no club above us in the table would have a need for him because they have better halves already. Toronto were paying over the odds for players because they had to, now that option has gone for the moment.
IF we have re-signed Myer on the right terms, I don't have a problem with it although it also doesn't excite me.
There is a type we've been recruiting for since Sinfield/Agar took over, and it's very much character fit. I do think they are moulding the young players into good attitude by bringing in role models around them and that makes sense. For me the acid test will be in another year or two when the side is ready to rise again - does the management have the judgement and ability to bring in the right signings at the right time? Not seen evidence of it yet unfortunately.

I would suggest if the plan goes accordingly and the Youngsters progress and we start to look like a top 4 team who is consistently winning, signings are actually easier to make and be successful, for the last 2-3 years we have generally been fire fighting, Sinfields error with Furner and now Covid haven't helped the cause one bit.
