| Bateman is quality and would be a great fit for any side because all sides need quality players.
Field looked pretty good. I did chuckle at one of the commentators near the end when he said 'and even Field has had a good game'. Made him sound like he is usually utter shi te.

I couldn't agree more, i'd add Tom Holroyd too if he's fit
It's also a shame that Corey Johnson has retired from the game as he was the best junior 9 in this hemisphere and was ready for 1st team games in 2020
Players like Jack Broadbent,Alex Sutcliffe,Callum McLlelland and Muiz Mustapha etc have all missed a season of progression of playing at a higher level if the Championship doesn't resume, but they could all yet step up and play games for Leeds this season when the games come thick and fast

| Quote batleyrhino="batleyrhino"If you mean Bateman, I wouldn't have wanted him. Decent player, not more in my opinion, but I just don't see him as a Leeds type player. He's also got a hatred of the club and that never goes down well...

| Bateman is legit one of the best 2nd rowers in the world.
Don't be immature saying you wouldn't take him at Leeds. Had he signed for us yesterday we'd all be saying what a fantastic signing it is.

Not quite so sure it is in the immature league of the Gale denouncers though. You know those that were adamant we wouldn’t sign Gale as he was apparently absolute rubbish before his injuries, never mind after them, and wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole.
I suppose it just highlights different opinions people have.

| Regarding Bateman's playing ability
He nailed the NRL in his first season over there and was a stand out player in that comp and could have stayed at the Raiders or have moved to another NRL side if he had wished to do so.
I applaud him for going over there to test himself in the NRL and I also understand why he want's to be back home closer to his daughter.
Wigan have got their man back but they're also paying Mega money for the privilege and on a 4 or 5 year deal too.
I would guess that he's either taking the majority of O'Loughlin's cap space (If he doesn't play on again next season) or some of Hastings and Gildart's too if they leave as predicted to the NRL in 2021.
In the current financial climate at the club then I would imagine that the Rhinos would never have even been in the bidding war to sign Bateman, even with the cap space available.

| We will probably need a star signing or two to get back to winning ways. However what Agar and Sinfield are largely trying to do is build a solid, competitive and balanced squad - and to allow pathways for young talent.
Let the other clubs splash their cash, we really need to do this from ground up, and clearly we’re under significant financial strain. That’s just circumstantial with the timing of the outbreak after we’ve made a walloping capital investment.

| Doesn’t sound good on the injury report on YEP.
Ward & Crosby - indefinitely
Walker - touch and go for Huddersfield
Leeming - ready for Huddersfield
Sutcliffe - ready for Huddersfield
