I came on to say the same thing, vastly underated in this era but started to live up to his reputation later on

Watching Leeds-v-Hull FC from 2009 I was surprised by a couple of things. Firstly, Calderwood playing for the black & whites. I'd forgotten that part of his career entirely.

And secondly, how early the South Stand starting being in trouble, as portions of it were already taped off at that stage. I'd have put it a couple of years later than that.

If I remember didn’t they tape it off for a few years whilst trying to get planning permission to rebuild. It was denied so they made some repairs but still had to reduce capacity after that.

Just watching the 2009 GF and loving the inconsistency in the commentary - Saints try it looks pretty clear that Eastmond knocks on into Donald before scoring "I think you've got to give benefit of the doubt to the attack." Fast forward to our last try and it's very tight as to whether Lee Smith is onside "You can't give benefit of the doubt on such an important decision."

11 years later, I know the result, I know the commentary doesn't matter but it still winds me up. God I miss sport.

You could literally take any one of Stevo's match commentaries and paste it onto the soundtrack of any game and you would not be able to tell. The mark of a true master of his art.
