Quote: Shabino "I know what you're saying though. Koukash alluded to RFL just jumping to sky's commands, and that we could advance the sport by looking elsewhere.
Pretty successful guy and I think he knew what he was talking about. Don't think he realised how badly the sport is governed though. Lots of professions are not moving back, but forwards, and looking to work in new ways. If someone like Eddie Hearn gets involved we'd be looking at a breakaway league ala darts, and just look at what they've achieved for a pub game!!'"
In RL Koukash was remarkably unsuccessful despite the money he ploughed recklessly into Salford. Broke contracts, broke the salary cap, no significant increase in crowds or revenue, academy funded by fans donations and all to finish 14th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 7th & 9th before sodding off.
Koukash is not someone whose example should be followed.
Aside from that it’s very nice saying we should look elsewhere but those who do never actually say who or how we deal with making up the shortfall in income from moving away from Sky.
Great let’s get Eddie Hearn involved. Who decides on that? It needs the clubs. What if they don’t all agree with what he wants to do?
It’s a far more complex picture than darts.
