Just to even the scales, How many of our current squad would the top five teams want?

That’s a surprisingly difficult one given the size of Leeds as a club - I’m genuinely struggling to name any aside from Harry Newman and he wouldn’t make the 17.

Given a month months to bed in etc, I think Martin will be a hit but whether or not hed be good enough to break into a top 5 team I'm not so sure.

I also think Merrin would be a player people were raving about if he was putting in performances he has for us at a top 5 team- appreciated that's a bit chicken and egg because he'd have to be good enough to get into one of those sides first...

Walker and Newman would walk into Warrington's and Hull's sides. Newman also into Wigan's. I would back Ava and Merrin also in any of the top 5 sides, even if not starting.

That's about it though.

Remember the cap goes up £100k next year, I am sure would cover the upgrades you mentioned, which actually came into effect this season.

Don't they also include the full year cap of a player even if he only joins half way through? that been the case, you will also have extra flexibility on Ava, Lui, and Martin to use into next year.

Merrin would get into and add value to any top side in SL IMO

I don't know I thought if the cap is live it would count the players earnings from when he starts.

My lad was playing at the Leeds foundation festival a couple of weeks back at Hunslet Warriors. Crosby, Lunt, Newman and Donaldson were stood next to us, and I’m not 100% sure who (I think it was Crosby mind), said "I’m getting taxed to f**k on 10 grand a month"!! No way could any of them be earning that kid of dough.

No I don't think so, but I must admit not entirely sure. But I think their salary cap value is the annual value of their contract. So if we take them on in July at say £5000 per month (£60,000 annual), then the salary cap is calculated to £60k for that player.
