Quote: Gotcha "The exchange thing isn't real. I have no doubt their accounts and cap will be in Euros, and therefore needs a set rate, but it is a long time since a rate of 1.45 would have been deemed correct.
IF anything they will have been at a disadvantage on that score.'"
I can assure you that this is very real. League express ran an article in August last year that stated that other clubs in super league are furious that although the exchange rate has dropped from the high 1.40s down to 1.1 last year there had been no change in the salary cap regulations and Catalans have been using that extra allowance to their advantage ever since June 2016. surely that's a long enough time that the authorities could have corrected this and set the exchange rate at a fair level. how else can you get in Kasiano last minute with the squad they've already got? I'm sure if the exchange rate rapidly shot up into the 1.60s Catalans would be the fist ones to complain and get the rate changed. When I said set the exchange rate at the start of each season I obviously didn't mean for that to affect existing contracts. purely for new arrivals should they be deemed to be exploiting the cap with the current spend. Anyway i'll leave this now as we are on the transfer talk thread and I don't want to be blocking it up with salary cap talk
