Another old, past it, injury prone ,disinterested forward isn't what we need.
Got enough of that already.'"
I very much doubt SOL would ever be a disinterested forward. He's nothing if not a model pro.
I'd be shocked to see him in a Leeds shirt but we are crying out for a leader and he's still a very special player even if he can be irritating and needs managing carefully in terms of game time.

| SOL is a very good player and a good club man for wigan, but not the type if player we should be looking at, good for Wigan but never more than a lesser version of Paul Sculthorpe or kevin Sinfield, a fully fit motivated Brett Ferres is a still a better option. And Carl Ablett.

| Quote Frosties.="Frosties."I honestly think that we might see him in Leeds colours too. The amount of work on and off the field he will do will only benefit us, especially with the likes of Ward and Sutcliffe. He could be what Sutcliffe needs. Wigan wanted Sutcliffe a few years back to replace O’Loughlin in the future but the deal didn’t come off. Maybe we can use it to our advantage.'"
At the end of last season, Sinfield put in place the 4 leaders idea that failed. For mine ward needs to just get his own game right and the others need a leader. SOL would provide that and be an ideal role model for smith. would also provide some class and big game know how. Sutcliffe to-back row or It would not amaze me to see Sutcliffe go to Wigan as part of any deal

| I've rated O'Brother-in-law since the determined try he scored against us in 2003 play-offs (a cracking game by the way). There are obviously positives and minuses about bringing him to Leeds at this stage of his career, but if he is looking for a longer-term role as an assistant under Furner's tutelage (as opposed to going to the NRL), this could work out well for all concerned. Those complaining about the lack of assistants who were not 'yes men' or part of the club's culture should be happy if this is what the club have in mind.

This is how i feel although i do like the thought of him being part of the coaching set up. I personally don't see us being involved in many if any 'big games' next year though for him to be able to display his obvious qualities in that area and if we are keeping JJB,Ferres and Ablett around on balance spending that money on a younger off loading back row would be money better spent.

Sinfield was a very different type of player to SOL.
Sculthorpe I will give you.
But to think Ferres and Ablett are better players then I think you are way off.
Remind me how many international caps does Ablett have?

Ferres just pre Leeds was a fantastic player but has been MIA pretty much all his time with us but there is a player in there still if he can get fit, maybe a clean slate with a new coach and he could be like a new signing next season if not he is OOC and will be gone by end of season. Ablett has been a good servant for us, under rated player from a time when we had other more obvious stars taking the plaudits but this last couple of seasons injuries have caught up with him and he has not looked quite the same player he did, i know i am probably in the minority but he is lucky to have a new deal imo and should have been moved on.
