| Quote Backwoodsman="Backwoodsman"Think Gary is playing the age old game of brinkmanship. The building programme for the north stand looks a bit optimistic. I suspect the local population will not allow night working or maybe Sunday working. So unlike most construction works if work falls behind programme ,major problem look likely.
The situation has disaster written all over it. Even worse Gary may have to pay back his loan. Looking on the bright side I suspect caddick builders will be hot favorites to win the building contract.'"
The North Stand can be written off as the fault of the YCCC and their failure to provide their share of the funding if it doesn't go ahead. The focus then shifts back to the South Stand and why redevelopment can't go ahead. Can't blame YCCC in that instance.
I'm not convinced Leeds are anywhere close to being in a financial position to fund either project. I hope to be proven wrong.

| As I have previously stated this whole scenario has disaster stamped all over it. As William quite rightly states ,the club does not seem to have a reasonable amount of cash to fund the project. So it means borrowing a large amount of money. Probably not a smart move as we enter uncertain financial times, brexit and all that. My opinion would be to build a new south stand which would not break the bank. Then take stock of the situation and contemplate the north stand project. Obviously yorks cricket would suffer fixture set back for a number of years. But would eventually get back into the main fixture programme. The downside would be the time factor, it would of course put them several years behind schedule.

| Is the South Stand "really" that bad in it's current state?
I know a fair bit of work was completed to make it safe again a good few years ago but can't we "update" the current stand further perhaps?! Might save a bit of money if that's what GH is worried about.

I think GH is worried about money though only in so far as he realises Leeds' chance of screwing owt from the council is zero unless it's done on the back of YCC's plans. And that train's about to leave the station it seems. That won't necessarily preclude the work from being done but it will likely mean having to borrow at vastly inflated terms compared to earlier council deals with sports clubs.

| Nor should there be. In economic times like these it's cringeworthy that a sporting club can have the brass neck to ask a council for some money.

| Quote rugbyleague88="rugbyleague88"Is the suggestion that the north stand and south stand would be built at the same time? What are the chances of this going ahead? Appears increasingly unlikely from what I have read... but I haven't read much!'"
Well in that article GH says 'must start by September 1st'. Meaning we would definitely have to move out at the end of the season as we still have games to play (start of the super 8s).
He denied a few weeks ago that we would have to move out of headingley for anything.
More lies.

They knocked down the corner segment between the South stand and Western terrace last year before the season ended.
Do you know what the first few weeks would entail to be certain we'd have to move out?

| Quote Sal Paradise="Sal Paradise"Absolutely - at the last set of financials Leeds only had c£2m in cash so that suggests some serious borrowing is required!!'" Caddick Group have scooped out £4.5m of Leeds' cash though - not as dividends but as inter-company loans. Assuming (and it's a big but fair assumption) that Leeds get their money back from Caddick they have £7m. Which is why the South Stand project - both this version and the previous one that we didn't bother with in the end - has always been mostly funded.
