| Given how dreadful the 2016 season was, the pre-season friendly phase of the RL year could actually matter a lot more this time around than it has for Leeds in the recent past.
In previous years the impression one gets is that these games are largely for the commercial well-being of the club, with most front-line players needing time off due to extended campaigns in the Challenge Cup, Play-Offs, internationals and sometimes WCC preparations. We've had the luxury of a lot of continuity in good form and playing staff in key positions. All this is gone now. The first team needs to hit the ground running this year, so there is more impetus to do more than give youngsters/fringe signings a run out and let regulars blow-off a few cobwebs... It will be interesting to see if the club take the friendlies a bit more seriously.

Wtt the HKR performance again opinion has been given what happens v Fev wont change that do you see the pattern?
Wigan v Leigh -Already covered.'"
I do see an all too familiar pattern, yes.

| I think most people knew that it would cost £20 to get away from the missus and kids on Boxing day - small price to pay IMO if that's your bag. I haven't attended these games for many years - I am not that desperate to get away from the missus or see a game of rugby.
However the general view is the performance was below what was expected given the comments of the coach prior to the game.
Does the performance have any relevance to the 2017 season - who knows only time will answer that question

Let me help you with that one Sal. The answer is the same as it's always been.... no.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it but you have no more knowledge on the matter than those who suggest it sets a poor tone for the year.
As I said nobody really knows and all will be revealed in time - just like your prediction for the 2017 season

No, sorry. I just don't agree.
A meaningless pre-pre-season friendly with most of the first team missing, played only for the fans and to make some easy cash for the club, has absolutely no bearing on the forthcoming season. None whatsoever. If we go on to lose every game this season it won't be because some kids got beat in December.
It's the same with Wigan and last week's 50-10 drubbing by Leigh.
And you already know my prediction: Top 4. I made that on here before any 2017 prediction threads were created.
