Some of you lot define the word complacency. I hope the Leeds players and staff share a similar mentality i really do.
No one gave Feath a chance when we played Cas in the cup a few years back. Or when we ran Wigan close the following round. Or when we beat Hull in the Challenge Cup all those years ago. Or even when we played Bradford in the decider.
At the end of the day, yes you SHOULD win, but after the season you've had so far could you really say with 100% confidence that you expect a pretty routine victory? That may well turn out to be the case but don't be counting your chickens just yet.
As far as us Feath lot are concerned, everything from here is a bonus. We've banked some extra dosh and that should allow us to make a couple of shrewd signings to compliment the current squad for next year. When you don't receive anywhere near as much money every year from the RFL or Sky then that's all we can do and most of the fans have become accustomed to it now. Make no mistake though, the fans still want more and we're all loving the fact that it's actually possible again to have an opportunity to make claim for Super League next year. With the closed shop we've all witnessed for the past 15-20 years i'm taking that as a win. You Super League lot have been truly spoilt!
The players on the other hand will be having different ideas. Make no mistake, they've worked their backsides off the last few weeks to make the middle 8's. They won't just be showing up on Sunday, they'll be giving it a reyt go.
Worth noting as well that we're a part time team. That definitely has disadvantages don't get me wrong, but the one up shot is that there's only 2 or 3 clubs that can pretty much pick from the Part Time players every season. Some of the talent in the part time roster are very talented players, they may have decided for whatever reason that part time is the way to go for now. We have some high standard players for sure.
Our fitness has improved leaps and bounds as we've gone through the season as we proved against the full time Bradford, we can go 80 minutes against full time sides.
I'm hoping for a close game with a lot of excitement and a few shocks and surprises along the way. It should be great to see Post Office Road bouncing for the 2nd home game in a row. We can certainly put on a show for the cameras so i hope your guys are ready
