74527_1452367614.jpg [b:myocm3z2]Wigan Warriors will always be the biggest club in the world of rugby league

| I have just heard a very interesting theory regarding the current plight of the Rhinos club and how if this theory is actually correct, Then it could actually allow all of the players currently contracted by the club on Super League only contracts to be free agents should they be relegated
I'm not privy to the contracts handed out at the Rhinos, but judging by contracts offered to players at the Wigan Warriors I know that the top earners are employed and contracted on SL contracts and that they do not include an option for relegation into the Kingstone Press Championship as a continuation to their deals
Could it be possible that player power is involved and that they simply want Brian McDermott out?
How far would Gary Hetherington be prepared to take this possible scenario without risking letting all of his prized assets moving to rival clubs for free should they be relegated?

30462.jpg [b:3oz7jfnu]Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester:
"Some people within the club [Castleford] have come out with comments saying we're beatable and it's a great game for them and they're very confident.
Many of the comments I've heard have been bordering on disrespectful.
They can be as confident as they want, but they're going to get a tough game this weekend and we'll be trying our best to make sure they don't get that win.
We've played in some big games over these last few years and they've not played in as many, if any, so to be that confident is very risky for them.
They come here with confidence because they've scored a lot of points and beaten us at home, but I wouldn't be overconfident if I was them."

I actually think that this is a very valid topic and that the Rhinos should take this scenario very seriously
In 2006 Wigan had this very same threat hanging over their club
They subsequently flouted the salary cap rules and signed Fielden and made out that 9 senior players would forego 3 months wages and were found to be £222,314 over the cap
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2007/ ... ague.sport
My club Castleford Tigers were relegated that season and I have never forgiven the Wigan club for blatantly cheating the cap (Not even a live salary cap back then either,so all points deductions were not handed out that season) to secure their clubs SL survival
How many Wigan players would have been free agents back then if they were relegated?
Wigan simply played the rules and found a way to avoid relegation and also a player drain of all contracted players if they were relegated
I would guess that players like Lockers,Sam Tomkins,Joel Tomkins and McIllorum would have been snapped up by rival SL clubs (without actually checking their full squad list at the time) although their would probably have been plenty more future stars lost from their squad had they been relegated

Not this again...
Even if it had been a live cap your club still would've gone down. Get over it.

How do you work that out?
How do you work out what impact your blatant cheating of the Salary cap enabled your side and their points accumulated to enable safety?
Why did your club cheat then if SL security was so safe?
