| Usual suspects coming out the woodwork who've had it in for Mac from Day 1, and are now claiming to have been right all along after 3 Grand Finals, 2 Challenge Cups, a League Leaders Shield and a World Club Challenge.
Yes, early season results have been poor but we've been in all but 2 of the games we've played so far and have beaten two decent sides in Hudds and Saints.
The transition was never going to be easy, so writing the coach off 7 games in is woefully premature. Some things are glaringly obvious:
-Sutty is still struggling to get ack to his early 2015 form. This is understandable what with him having been out injured since then. He was also playing alongside McGuire and Aiton then - recently it's been just Burrow.
-Burrow is no longer (if he ever was) a scrum half that can run a game for us. When he last regularly played SH he had a ball-playing and kicking loose (Sinfield) and a halfback that could kick and run at the line (McGuire) alongside him. Both - either due to retirement or injury - are now gone, and Burrow is much better suited to the impact hooker role. If we need a half back to partner Sutty, it should be Lilley, given his organisation and kicking is much better than Burrow's.
-We've been struggling up front, with question marks over Galloway and lack of depth in the second row.
-Mac's selections haven't always made sense - leaving out Singleton, Garbutt, Baldwinson and Achurch for Walters and Keinhorst, for example.
That said - there are 14 games to go till the split and we are 4 points off the 8. Easily recoverable. 6 points off the 4 - likewise. We've had a very tough early season run and our next two games are Wakey and Hull KR, both of which we should win. With key players returning the real question is how do we do over the next few weeks. If with 7 games before the split we're still in the bottom 4, and the coach is still refusing to pick props despite our lack of them, then I'll be concerned.
In the meantime, we have our two most key players (Falloon and McGuire) back on Monday. So we should line up something like:
Hardaker
Briscoe
Watkins
Moon
Handley
Sutcliffe
McGuire
Galloway
Falloon
Cuthbertson
Ferres
Ablett
Jones-Buchanan
Burrow
Mullally
Singleton
Garbutt

That isn't the case at all only a select few on here have suggested the club need to make a change now. The majority believe Mac has at least earned this years grace whatever the outcome and there is little doubt he will anyway so its a pointless thread really.
You are right on the spoilt brat bit though, we have been very fortunate for a lot of years now and there are probably a few whiners on here now who were not watching pre SL where this club only had a Yorkshire cup to shout about the decade leading up to 95.

| Some of the more hysterical posters do need to get things in perspective. We are not in Brussels or Paris or Ankara which is really serious! This is only a game and like all sport you have periods where things do not go your way no matter what you try. Did you really think that we could lose key players like Sinfield and JP without having some problems?
Attempts were made to replace JP's workload with forward signings but his leadership is still missed. However the powers that be decided not to sign a half back play maker who could kick to try and replace Sinfield's role in the side, a decision that was largely accepted by the SS critics. However to expect McGuire to play a whole season without injury was risky and to expect young Sutcliffe and Lilley to fulfill this vital pivot position when neither had shown anything other than promise has been proven to be foolish IMO.
When McGuire was injured in the first game of the season and in the second further injuries to Briscoe, Ablett and Golding on top of long termers Ward & JJB plus Falloon in preseason. So we were faced with something of a handicap. Since then we have had suspensions and further injuries and senior players way out of form (Hall & Hardaker, ) while others are not at their best or not fully fit and three new players to settle in.
So in what was always going to be the big transition season we started badly and it has got worse. However the side will improve and injured players will return. We should not expect to win silverware with such a transition to cope with. Relax...it can now only get better!

And beaten by a Wakefield team with 6 players missing.

| You remind me of the Wire after Briers and Morley left, rudderless and could have all the ball and no clue how to cross the line. It takes time to replace great players and you can't win something every year, not time to be ringing the Samaritans yet
