I think Gaskell was always going to be a quality player. He's suffered because he's spent the last few years being shuffled around in different positions. He was always a half back and now he's getting the first run in the halves since his first his first couple of seasons at Saints where he looked a great prospect, and you can see he's a class above the level he's currently at.
I'd much rather have him than Brierley, to be honest, although he reminds me in many ways to Sutcliffe.
