Quote Gotcha="Gotcha"After McDermotts comments to the press today, I don't think they should play him. McDermott has made a massive error today, and shown he is not at the standard of dealing with these sort of issues. You don't hang your players out to dry like that, not when and offence has now been cleared up. Hardaker is a pretty popular member with his team mates, and those comments today could cause a lot of disruption.
Should have been kept in house until they had made a decision, no need to tell the world at this point. And the fact he lied about ringing the police straight away, forgetting to mention they already knew about the issue.'"
“As soon as we were made aware of the pictures that were on the Yorkshire Evening Post website, we actually rang the police themselves. We were keen to make sure that he helped the police in everything they needed to do. He did that and now we conduct our own investigation.
“We made that phone call straight away and then phoned Zak.”
He says they rang the police straight away WHEN they saw the photos in YEP.
Before that if they knew then I'm guessing both players probably denied any knowledge or involvement or even being in that building. So until the pictures showed up as evidence it was merely a case of their word against the students word.
As for what McDermott's said on the whole I have no problem with it. I think Hardaker has worn out his protection from management card and and McDermott whilst he's Hardaker coach, also has a duty to the club to tell his and the club's side of events and standpoint instead of just looking stubborn and straight batting all questions on the subject.
Hardaker may be a popular player in the group and if any of his mates are disappointed with McDermott's comments then they need to give their heads a shake......they should save their disappointment for their two teammates. Likewise if Hardaker is feeling any disappointment in what McDermott said then he's a fool. He's not hung him out to dry, he just told it how it is and I can't see anything he's said that Hardaker or any others could be upset about.
