Quote: gulfcoast_highwayman "Yes, Dougie was coach. Fawcett was running the ball out from his own sticks and dropped it clean (IIRC), letting Hull KR score what was seemingly the winning try, only for (again IIRC) Andy Gregory, in one of the very few good things he did in a Leeds shirt, set up Gareth Stephens for the actual winner.
I believe Dougie made some comment regarding the Fawcett incident along the lines of 'If I'd had a gun, I'd have shot him.'
Regarding Stephens, it may be a terrace nonsense, but didn't we take him instead of Jason Robinson?'"
Think that's a half truth, Robinson was and wanted to play in the halves, but Leeds had Stephens and Francis Maloney, so Robinson went for wigan + Leeds had an awfull reputation at the time for lack of youth development.
