Agreed on this first point, I'd just like to see him stand up for himself against the tougher opponents when it gets nasty, like it did at the Magic Weekend.
I think JP still has plenty to offer, but do think it's important he's rested more frequently, to prevent the frustration that evidently came out last night and could've cost us the game! |

To be fair, some of the coach's decisions this year warrant that nickname for mine, particularly not utilising the full interchange bench on various occasions and not rotating Sinny, Kylie L and JP more often in the lesser games. |

That's one thing that really gets my back up. When one of our players gets smashed and the other team all coming running in, we always seem to be too hesitant. I'd like to see a bit more solidarity and them all come flying in like the good old days with Senior, Adamson, Barrie Mac etc. Show we're a side not to be messed with!! |

What a stupid thread. Criticizes JP for cracking the lad and criticizes Delaney for not smacking the same lad. The level of stupidity displayed on this forum continues to amaze.
As for the incident itself the lad had it coming. Asked for it, got it and was stupid as it fired up a previously lacklustre Leeds. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fair enough, he copped a facial from Sarsfield on the floor (no worse than the type you see about 10 times in any typical SL game), but to react in that manner taking a swing at a part-time player half his size in embarrassing. Now, I'm not against the biff as and when appropriate, but what particularly gets my goat is the fact when, for instance, we played Wigan at HQ and Bateman clattered him, or when we played Wigan at the Etihad and Micky Mac near on decapitated him, why didn't he spark them out, rather than his derriere falling out, as it did on both occasions?!
I'm all for the 'hardman' act and there's no question JP is a tough bloke, but let's see him dish out the punishment on the tough guys (not sure you can even call Bateman that!) in the big games, rather than being a flat-track bully against a bunch of part-timers!!
And on the subject, Brett Delaney....if you're going to come steaming in when the ruckus kicks off (like he did last night), actually do something, rather than bottle it when an opponent squares up, as he usually does!!
