Quote: Gotcha "Sinfield made a speech a few years back regarding trophies and money, and too many hold on to that. It was a few years back. I doubt very much that today the same views of players would be held. This is a salary capped sport, and the time playing the game is getting shorter. That salary cap in real terms means that the money earned is less than it was four or five years ago, as the cap hasn't moved enough. The longer it is held at that, the more movement of chasing the £ you will see in players, and they can hardly be blamed for that.'"
I think in the BJB case it's a bit different. It's one thing to be getting less money but reaching and winning finals IF you're in the team. Both Hall & Watkins have mentioned previously that although they were members of previous GF winning squads, they didn't really feel like GF winners themselves until they played in the game itself.
The situation is also different to the likes of the Calderwood, Walker & Smith because they were starters.
Because he's gone to Salford some will say it's just because of money, but if you look at the other main contenders for trophies like Saints and Wigan they didn't really need him. Warrington was a possibility but they're on a slide ATM whilst Salford will climb up eventually.
