Was it a 42-24 defeat in 2005 ? It was 24-24 for a good while.
Time before that was 1993 I think. We lost in the last 5 mins (think it snowed !)
If Leigh keep them below 50, they would have done really well. Would be nice to see us score a few points too.'"
It was 42-24 in 2005. Leeds decided they only had to turn up to chalk up another 50+ margin victory but it didn't turn out that way. I recall one of your Kolpak Stiffs back then (Leafa?) jinking past Mathers with ease to score under the sticks.
Mathers would develop that turnstile routine of his into sheer perfection a couple of months later in the CC Semi against Toulouse when Sebastian Raguin breezed past him without offering to pay the admission.
2005 was another season where Leeds received no luck whatsoever in any of the CC draws. They were presented with the tough assignment of Warrington, Pia and London all at home followed by Toulouse in the Semi at Huddersfield. Basically, a free pass all the way to the CC Final itself. Unfortunately, they had to face whipping boy SL rabble at Cardiff which was a step too far.
