I for one am amazed by that decision.

I'd much rather we played Wigan but I can't see the logic in not picking Leeds and in picking Hudds. Too much motivation for a decent Hudds team, avoid a 'battered' Leeds whom you beat a week ago.

I also don't get all this talk of Leeds being tired and have picked up injuries. We may be without 2 second rowers but we've got Singo and Clarkson (who might get 10 mins on the pitch) as adequate back up. It's worked out fine for half the season anyway.

Since when has back to back tough games been a problem? Not last year or the year before that. The consensus on the other forums is Leeds looked tired. Not too tired to see of a 'resurgent' saints side.

I also don't see why Wires think that their record against Hudds will have any bearing on the result on thursday. After a 76-18 win they aren't going to be lacking in confidence. Pick the lowest ranked team and get on with it should be the philosophy.

Yeah exactly, why have it? It's stupid. I generally agree with smith's thoughts on the matter in that regard.

Agreed

But that's the bit that confuses me, Smith said (IIRC) that he thought the whole thing was a gimmick and would always choose the team that was lowest ... but they haven't, they've actually given credibility to it.

Quote: Tony Soprano "Whats the big song and dance about?, they had to pick someone and they picked the team they have had the best results against this year and what they see as their best chance of getting to the gf

I doubt anyone at wire is looking any further than the hudds game just yet'"

I agree, Warrington were always going to pick Huddersfield on the basis they've had good results over the course of the season. Though I'm sure about 8/10 posters from Leeds and Wigan have told us repetatively that the league results mean nothing come the play-offs. icon_wink.gif

The other possible reason is Warrington have known since Thursday night who they were playing, so from training on Friday they could start to properly prepare and even earlier in the week they could have had a good idea as they stated "we were always going to play the victors of the Giants vs. Hull game". I think for the first time a club has used club-call properly and to the best advantage they can.

Did we really all want to watch repeats of week one? I certainy didn't. We've now got two potentially great semi-finals.

That's where it's all a bit moot. We'd have had potentially great semi finals whichever way it went.

Morley's confirmed they picked Giants due to their domination over them so far this year. That makes sense. Some will say that will give Giants extra motivation.........but they shouldn't need any.

That's a bit of a sensible post.
