I wouldn't be surprised if the Southstand project has been put on the back burner now that its fully open following the improvements made. As for the North stand, not sure if we'd need some involvement with YCCC and we know they're penniless.

new South Stand has been put on the back burner due to the financial situation of SL & the club. We're only averaging around 15k a game which means that capacity-wise it isn't needed right now, and it's a hell of a lot of money at a time where the club needs to pinch the pennies. Not only that, but it would drop capacity significantly while the stand was built (because it likely couldn't be done October-February), losing us revenue and potentially needing to take games on the road.

North Stand is equally unlikely given YCCC's current finanances. Once the new broadcasting contract comes up in 2017 Headingley should be able to secure more matches and the finance should be there, so maybe around 2020 the NS will get done.

As for the Western Terrace, doing anything before either the NS or SS would be a complete vanity project. Maybe at some point the TV screen could be moved to the corner between the SS & Carnegie (post-South Stand rebuild), freeing up space on the WT for more standing & making rebuilding with a roof easier. Right now though, not a priority.

The South Stand has been put on the back burner due to the planning issues, nothing to do with finances or capacity. The financial situation of the club is better than its been for decades. IIRC the new South Stand was going to be the same capacity as the current one but with hospitality boxes. That is why the remedial work on the South Stand was done and the new pitch brought forward. The argument that it would drop capacity while being done is irrelevant as would have to be done at some point regardless of finances.

Agree re the North Stand, that pretty much relies on YCCC's position.

The WT again relies on planning, which won't be passed due to the houses behind. Until that is sorted nothing other than repairs will be done to the WT.

Are the ECB dropping their ridiculous system of making grounds "bid" for Test matches at auction and run the risk of losing a shedload of cash if they can't sell the tickets or the weather means they have to pay refunds?

Am sure I read Colin Graves somewhere saying that YCCC would not bid for any Ashes tests in future as they couldn't take the financial risk.

The ECB may be reviewing the bidding process for holding Test Matches but Graves has made it clear that Yorks will not be bidding for one in 2015.
The next one then will be 2019, Graves has not ruled out bidding for this one.
Graves has recently been appointed the deputy chairman of the ECB, it will be interesting to see if his stance or the process changes.
