I do wonder about that. Many of the kids I coach like the idea of coming to rugby, they enjoy being with their mates and messing about and their parents enjoy the social side. Do they enjoy actually playing rugby? It's obvious a lot don't (one openly blackmails his father who is also one of the coaches and is desperate for him to play).
In the end that's not really a problem, I'm happy kids enjoy what we do overall and there is more to sport than results and in some cases the sport itself. It can be a real challenge though when you are trying to coach when some kids just want to throw mud at each other. Still, I'm a Leeds lad so I can shout really, really loud
