Ok, under McDermott never given a chance, when he was at a cross roads in his career. Not everyone rated Burgess when he was at Leeds, but I was always one of them.

| Bowen has been a great player, and would be an asset to SL. Having said that, given his age and other weaknesses in the squad I'd far rather target one/two quality forwards (and let a couple depart in return).

81 .... but who's counting.

McDermott played Burgess in 12 of the opening 15 games last season before the toys flew out of the pram.

IIRC then Bails and JP came back from injury and Biff touch back in his righful place in the pecking order. He was hardly knocking any trees down in those early games for the coach to adjust the obvious pecking order.

| I'd imagine not that many 'obvious pecking orders' found Burgess sitting behind Kirke for the propping duties though so I can perhaps understand some of the apparent frustration.

| Burgess was the best prop by miles at the start of last season, and he seemed to have ironed out the flaws in his game, his defense and ball retention improved significantly. He then was dropped suddenly (as were Mcshane and Clarkson IIRC) after a good run of form. I'm not surprised he was miffed. The annoying thing is neither of the props that have come in (Moore and Griffin) were or are as good as Burgess.
Failing to keep hold of some of our best young props has disappointed me over the years.

| There is no denying that and it would include for me a once ginger haired young fella that had to wait over ten years to earn his coveted unique number - if Leeds still operate the [ihalf-d [/isystem of theirs.
2012 inductees:
731 - Darrell Griffin
732 - Richard Moore
733 - Shaun Lunt

Agree entirely with that. He was easily our best prop last year.

Nah.
He didn't want to see his remaining contract out and didn't want to muck in for his shirt when competition arose. He was always going to leave. He wasn't happy and Leeds cut him loose in the interest of both parties. Fair enough.

| After Hardaker's great performance against Wigan it surely must have convinced GH that he will be the Rhinos fullback in 2013. If that's the case we don't need Matty Bowen but a qualiy experienced centre. Junior Sa'u is available, is he worth chasing and someone on another forum mentioned Blake Feruson but don't know how reliable. Anybody else in the NRL and OOC who would improve our team as left centre?
