As most on here know I am a strong advocate of promoting younger promising players.....BUT while we have a technically inept coach devoid of introducing any structured gameplan I would be more reticent to pin so much hope on them.

The coach does have a growing habit of publicly blaming his players for his own inadequacies. I'd hate for him to do the same to the new generation too.

Throwing a lot of youngsters in when the team is not playing well is not really the best way to do it. Remember Wigan in 2004 - 2005.

Exactly, they have to be put in 2/3 at the time coming off the bench to get used to the pace and intensity of a Superleague game. Starting them from cold and having them play beside each-other so there is no experience to keep them right if things go pear shaped results in a loss of confidence which does nobody favors. Wigan have done it right in the past couple of seasons by rotating youngsters in and out of the team even when playing their best rugby, so they are ready to slot in when required. Suddenly replacing half the team with players who have no experience is a recipe for disaster.

Exactly.

Wigan were able to successfully introduce their kids last night seamlessly .....and that's wholly down to a fabulous well drilled side.

Last night was embarrassing: the gulf was huge. Senior players being rolled over so easily by a set of kids.

Yes i understand that you cant throw every young player in but the players who i think should be promoted or given a chance have played during some part of this season or others people like

stevie ward
brad singleton
bjb (i know not a really young 1 but should be there)
Hood
ambler

and then maybe try some of the untried players like keinhorst/chisholm/D.smith

obviously i know its stupid to give them all a go at once but bring in 3 or 4 for the next few games and actually play them for longer than 10mins when the game is safe ffs
