I think it is something to do with Premier League rules that require a clear period before a a PL soccer game ...

I think many of us are missing the real question, perhaps one that should be asked of Wigan and the minor fact that they once had a perfectly good ground of their own. A ground with suitable capacity to hold a game of such magnitude and indeed a stadium used on many occasions for representative games.

Why do Wigan not have access to such a ground any more, I wonder ?

Apparently there is a wedding on Saturday in the North Stand so they can't use it. Don't know if that's true but if it is they really need to readdress the terms of their lease!

Re Wigan's current problem, there is no such FA 24 hour rule, it is purely a Wigan issue, Dave Whelan in some sort of dick measuring contest, showing who's boss. And now he has acquiesced to the Rugby League team playing, some people are trying to portary him in some curiously benevolent light.
